JANUARY PPM's - DISCUSS

Are they planning to do 6 pm "baseball reporters" show again? That may draw some listeners.
I believe when that debuted, EEI did some changes in their own Sox pregame in reaction.

I'm aware that the Weather Channel usually runs local updates on part of the screen while showing Jim Cantore being blown around by the 1978 blizzard or something. But when storms are progressing across the U S of A and may hit New England, I like to watch up-to-date coverage in real time, not reel time, as is the case when they run historial footage.

Community radio WCUW in Worcester will never register on the purple people meter as it chooses a path free from commercial and NPR/CPB influence.

If the Pats had gone to the Super Bowl, there would only have been two more games and one of them would've been in February. Usually when the home team loses, sports radio gets more calls from angry and disappointed fans. I doubt if the Pats early exit was the only reason. When will someone (from the Globe or Herald) release the show by show ratings?

Good point. Maybe the bloom is off the rose for the Sports Hub. Felger was never my cup of tea, and I continue to be unimpressed by Toucher and Rich in the morning. Their sports knowledge seems to range between little and non-existant. I have also noticed D+C spend much less time talking about politics, which probably helps them bring in more listeners.

But if I had to choose between 2 older guys talking politics/sports; and 2 younger guys doing fart jokes, I will take the 2 old guys every time!

In regards to getting ratings for specific shows, I was under the impression that stations had to pay for specific rating info like that. Maybe that is why we don't get the complete ratings breakdowns. Anyone know more about this?

When you subscribe to Arbitron, I'm pretty sure you get get everything including individual ratings for every show on every (subscribing) station. There is a second tier available, or at least there was, a few years ago called The PD Advantage which, among other things, delves deeper into the participants who shape the ratings and how they use radio.

For the past year or so every time a ratings book came out Chad Finn or Jessica Heslam wrote a story shortly thereafter detailing the head to head results. For most of the year 98.5 gained or overtook WEEI. The overall numbers for this book indicate that 98.5 took a hit, yet I haven't seen an article about it. Did I miss it or does the conspiracy theory have some validity?

I've seen their studios and chatted with their owner. You can believe me when I tell you that it's not by choice. As for their equipment, the metaphor about spit and shoelaces is appropriate. I don't know how they even stay on the air.

I had always heard their studio and equipment was running on "life support". However I get WCUW better than ever in Southern Worcester County. Did they finally spend some money?
