Philly may be the only major market without a CHR in the top 10. Wonder what the market dynamics are here that are pushing down Q's ratings.
Toward the end, Eagle was moving to grab a more-desirable adult demo while Q102 was left to pick up the teen listeners (hyped-up imaging/rhythmic lean/pitched-up music). IIRC, the effort was starting to work, but it was decided to flip to Smooth Jazz instead.I go back to the days in which Q’s main competition was Eagle. In my mind Q squeezed them out with highly energetic imaging and on air personalities. They were always extremely tight and fast paced in their presentation with jocks like Motormouth Terry and very good dance mixes on weekends and even during certain day parts throughout the weekdays.
Since then I’ve aged out of their target demos and hardly listen these days but I put their afternoon drive show on a couple weeks ago and it was like listening to Stuttering John. I’m not trying to be malicious but I couldn’t believe how far the station has fallen with the long pauses and incessant banter from a very unpolished host between the records.
I don’t know if this is the reason the station is doing poorly in the ratings but I’m sure it doesn’t help.

Huh? Top 40 (or CHR as it's been called for more than 40 years) appeals most to women 18-44, mainly under 30. Very few middle-aged white men are listening to it at all. They're getting new music from country, Hot AC or whatever variety of rock is available in their market, if any.Your residents are too smart, too hip, and too diverse for Top 40. At this point, that format is for middle-aged white men who don't want to hate new things. Talk radio is for middle-aged white men who do.
I was confused by that one as well. I wasn't sure whether we were supposed to be reading it with a sarcastic tone. While I certainly agree that today's "Talk" format is for white men who want to hate new things, CHR is most certainly not aimed at (nor largely being listened to by) middle-aged white men. Even if it were, I'm sure that plenty of them are champing at the bit to complain to whomever will listen about the fabricated "dangers" of Chappel Roan!Huh? Actually, today's CHR or Top 40 is aimed principally at 18-49 women, and more specifically 25-44 women. It does not target men specifically.Your residents are too smart, too hip, and too diverse for Top 40. At this point, that format is for middle-aged white men who don't want to hate new things.
You know full well it's not the same format, and the realities of the business world. And we know you know. It's just another excuse to toss around the bigotry.rumba 104.5 lasts 9 months with the same dismal ratings as rumba 106.1 and they were the only game in town, so why have three years gone by with no flip, I would imagine there are no format holes like in 2007 with y100 going away, except maybe the new hottest format classic alternative.
While I do understand the point about the difference in the two Rumba incarnations, I do not see commenting on their low numbers to be bigotry. You know full well it's not the same format, and the realities of the business world. And we know you know. It's just another excuse to toss around the bigotry.
you have have no idea what your talking about, your kind always brings race into the mix, this has nothing to do with any race, ratings are ratings and I was making a point and FYI if you read my previous posts on here I am 1/4 Mestizo, you and your boy just have a h o t n u t for everything I post you should get a life and a job. Do I look like a full blooded white guy...Had to finally prove you wrong to get you off my back...We’ve seen this over and over and over and over. The constant obsessions over any Black focused format or Spanish language format. Wash, rinse, repeat.
I'll give wibg a pass on the bigotry, What caught my eye on his post was the assertion that classic alternative was the current "hottest" format. Alternative of any variety hasn't been "hot" for at least two decades. We’ve seen this over and over and over and over. I was just joking....I'll give wibg a pass on the bigotry, What caught my eye on his post was the assertion that classic alternative was the current "hottest" format. Alternative of any variety hasn't been "hot" for at least two decades.

This is a very common opinion on this site, if less than profound. They need to improve their ratings.
Do you have any opinions about the topic at hand other than the goofy assertion that Top 40 CHR is aimed at middle aged white men Mr. Legalese?Your lack of understanding stems from your use of the phrase "unpolished host between the records."

If you’re trying to be the smartest guy in the room, you might want to start by not admitting to being “glib.”
