January ratings are here

There are some interesting changes. I wonder if there was a major panel turnover?

Biggest thing that caught my eye were the drops of both KBXX and KQBT. Where did those listeners go?

KMJQ also slipping recently.

KTRH cracks into the fives. Been quite a while since we've seen that.

Nice bump for KUHF.

Sportsradio 610 quadrupling each of its main competitors. Would love to see male 25-54 breakouts for the sportstalkers.

KROI showing a slight pulse, although its number still stinks. But the only Urban One station to show an increase.

And Classical and Urban Gospel fans understand what an HD radio is, and how to use one.

That's crazy about the box and the beat.

The drop in The Box and The Beat is probably the periodic "statistical outlier" -- unless we're to believe that both formats have suddenly failed overnight.
Similarly, the bump-up for KTRH isn't real either. The Rush Limbaugh fill-ins are lousy except for Mark Steyn -- and Michael Berry is still beyond horrible.
Ratings retracement-to-reality will occur soon.

The biggest turnover in PPM panel happens over the Holiday book. I have seen as much as 18% of a panel in one market change. The result is a bunch of new panelists which includes some that don't make it even a full month.

So January can be very erratic in some markets. Houston is one of the worst, for some reason.

Things tend to get better in the February book.

And that is one of the various reasons why agencies use multi-book averages, and often do not include December and Holiday in their averages.

Looks like the Radio Now 92.1 morning show is gone: https://radioinsight.com/headlines/...ts-morning-show-after-mckinzie-leaves-for-tv/

Might this be the prelude to a format flip on 92.1? Perhaps not, but I've just about given up trying to figure out what Urban One wants to do with this station.

Interesting that of the two country stations, KKBQ recovered from its Christmas drop, while KILT was flat through the entire period.
