Jason and the Scorchers, Webb Wilder

KDF had to play something else other than the same, tired, worn out Phil Collins, INXS and John Cougar Mellencamp tunes.

To answer your question, unless WRVU or WVCP played J & Scorchers and Webb Wilder, those and KDF would be only three stations with compatible format.

Did any Nashville stations besides KDF play them back in the 80's?

I think Rebel 100 played them for a time. If you blinked, you might have missed The Rebel's time in Nashville! To bad on that also.

Yes, forgot about Rebel 100 and theirs was a brief stint.

Did 1240 WKDA play those two artists? If I recall, for a while 1240 and KDF simulcast Carl P. Mayfield mornings then split into two different rock formats at 9:00.

KDF did not go deep into either of these artists if in fact they even did. Rebel 100 was all over Jason and The Scorchers and I remember 91 Rock playing the daylights out of these bands. In fact there is an interesting album framed over at RVU. Anyone remember the station benefit album for 91 Rock ---- City Without A Subway?

All I know is I lived in M'Boro in 1986-87 and purchased two of the CWAS albums, one for play and for show. Best complete complilation I've ever heard, then and since. Albums are packed somewhere and I need a fix for this album. I Googled it and found the playlist with complete songs! http://66.7.215.221/~sgcustom/music/music.htm

City Without a Subway -- The Entire Album as One File (33Mb)

Side One:

Raging Fire --"Everything is Roses"

The Movement --- "Lost Horizon"

Tomorrow's World --- "All Alone"

Shadow 15 --- "The Last Forever"

In Pursuit --- "No Way Out"

Side Two:

Questionnaires --- "Boomtown"

Webb Wilder --- "One Taste of the Bait"

Will Rambeaux & the Delta Hurricanes --- "Louisiana Law"

The Boilers --- "Can't Talk to You"

Bill Lloyd --- "This Very Second"

When I moved here in 1986, WKDA was airing the syndicated Oldies format. Not sure from what service they were running it from. By then, I think Carl P Mayfield was just on WKDF.

When WKDA went Oldies in '84, it was live and local. (But I really don't remember how long that lasted.) This was immediately after an interesting run with New Rock 12/82- ?/84...
