Jason Rooney out at KMXB

I am sorry to hear that Jason Rooney is out at MIX. I take it this was a budget cut? The top rated afternoon host was with KMXB for eight years. Before that he worked at the POINT.

He is a fantastic talent and he WILL land on his feet...how close to Vegas is the question...

I wonder if he has a non-compete. Usually CBS ties talent to a 6-month.

I don't believe you can hold them to that if you let them go...depends on whether or not he left, or was let go. Then you gotta think if there is time remaining on his contract.

I have heard of several cases where the talent was let go and still held to their non-compete.

It depends on the terms of your contract. Many hosts have fought non-competes (and won), and they're unenforceable in some states. Just to be on the safe side, (because it's rarely a good career move to have your name associated with a lawsuit, even if you prevail), don't sign a contract that includes a non-compete unless the company is prepared to compensate you while you sit home. The provision should apply whether you quit or were fired. We all need to eat...!

Only if they pay you not to work. I know. Been there, done that.

There is a job opening classified looking for a female who can relate to a 30 year old female audience for "a possible Las Vegas morning show opening" on AllAccess. The email address matches the one on Rooney's own website.

Interesting? KFRH was advertising recently for a morning host, but their core is several years older than 30.

What other station might Mr. Rooney have his microphone aimed at?
