It just hit me today during the open to the Whiner Line. Today's open was LJ calling Wolfe and voicing his displeasure at a bit the Big Show did called Beaver Pitch awhile back. Then it hit me, they also have a woman calling Wolfe and complaining about the guys on the Big Show and saying "I'll listen to Teddy at night" or something like that. My point of this post is that it just goes to prove what many (including myself) have said about Wolfe. What kind of jerk manager/director receives a call regarding his business and instead of handling professionally, he hands the messages of to the Big Show so the people who had the complaint can be made fun of.

How is he still employed after all the crap he has done?

Easy, because its funny....make one person mad, and thousands laugh?....its worth the trade off...even though you didn't laugh...stop micro-listening....WEEI is a big ratings winner, nothing needs to change

Apparently you are not looking at this correctly. If some listener called up the Whiner Line, or Glen Ordway's voicemail and started ranting and the rants were heard on the air, that would be funny. However that isn't what happened. The Program Director was called-not an on air personality. He should have been professional enough to handle it privately. But no, he handed the voicemail off so the person could be made fun of. Very sleazy.

Nope....heard the bit in question and still, after your clarification, think it was funny....didn't find it sleasy, maybe jason doesn't find the need to be "professional" regarding the so called caller...i'm sure there are plenty of other facts that you are unaware of...probably not as simple as you make it out to be

It's a BIT

Wolfe = the boss

People gripe about their boss all day. But if someone gripes about Wolfe...there's recourse. He's victimized. Made to be the buffoon. The villain. Just as all bosses are. And all employees would love to be able to rip their boss back for the crap they pull...and therefore listeners live vicariously through the actions of the WEEI airstaff. We did it to Hastings. They did it to Mittman. They do it to Wellington.

Does all this really need to be spelled out? If the bit causes you to think of Wolfe as an inept jerk...then it's working, and you're captured by the theater of the mind.

...and that's why they win.

Wow.

So, it's ok for the manager of a business to take a private message that was left for him and ridicule a private citizen? I don't think so.

The introduction you hear when you call the Whiner Line states that once you leave the message it becomes Entercom's property, and they can use it however they want and blah blah blah. Now, although I've never called Jason Wolfe's voicemail, I can state with pretty high accuracy that i'm sure his voicemail doesn't state that.

All radio, good or ill, is ‘theatre of the mind‘. How else would it be processed? That’s like saying ‘that song is music to my ears’ or ‘J.D. Drew is a waste of roster space‘… Oh wait, the second isn’t a good example because it is correct, but you know what I mean. ;)

Do you know this "private citizen?" For all you know it was the business manager...a sales rep. It could've been Jason's mom...I'm sure it was a staged call.

But he's still hot LOL

Honestly, I didn't think of that. The only one I've thought about being staged was Frank from Gloucester. It is possible I suppose. But then you have the Pete Sheppard call in sick voicemail. Again, maybe that was staged too, but if it wasn't, It is very unprofessional for Wolfe to take a voicemail that was meant for only him to hear, and distribute it to other workers.

Would it change your opinion at all to know that LJ okayed putting it on the air before it aired?

I suppose one could argue that he may have been under duress, but it seems like LJ is pretty happy to be working at WEEI from what I hear on the air.

If it is the case that LJ approved it (without being pressured) then yeah, it would change my opinion about that ONE incident. However, knowing how he (Wolfe) operates, I wouldn't jump on LJ freely okay the message train too quickly.

Look, if I was the only one here just going on about him it could be chalked up to one poster "just not liking him" but this isn't the case. Over the past few years, through his actions, he has proven-himself-that he is not a wonderful person.

In the 2 years I worked there, I never had a problem with Jason. We got along great.

You still don't get what multiple posters are trying to tell you. The only reason you assume that this VM was left for Wolfe is because that's what you heard...which does not necessarily bear any relation to facts.

Well, you are right. I do not know if it was left for Jason. However that STILL does not change the fact that other voicemails have been left for him, and they ended up on the air. Sorry everyone, you can try to spin it anyway you wantl, but it doesn't change the fact that he is unprofessional.

The thing that makes The Big Show what it is, funny, is that EVERYTHING and EVERYONE is fair game. Me likes it. Though when everyone gets yelling at once I do have to turn the dial.

That's probably what turned off Jim Baker, former Herald scribe who started referring to Ordway as
"the Big Zero". Baker "retired" from the Herald and is writing for a paper in a smaller town now, last I
heard.
