Jax BA Network station live and local in PM??

So I'm driving home yesterday pushing buttons, hit the SJ station and they are actually playing a song I like (an original instrumental!), then they play a sweeper and another song I like ( another instrumental that's not a cover.) Then instead of voicetracked inane plesantries from Koz there is a live local person on the air. A guy who did a Quiet Storm show here for quite a while. For the rest of the afternoon they were playing real smooth jazz including the vocals which included Marilyn Scott and Michael Franks..two artists BA won't touch. Listened today and they were local again.

The PD and this air personality both have smooth jazz background. I'm wondering if the swing to all crossovers and covers was just too much for them, or if listeners were complaining and they actually listened to them and decided to play Warren Hill, Rippingtons, Acoustic Alchemy, Steve Oliver, Boney and Peter White instead of Fergie and Timbaland???

It's just PM drive 2-6p and the guy has a slight speech impediment that drives me nuts but it sure is better than what is out there everywhere else!

This is undoubtedly the first affiliate to drop Koz w/o flipping formats, who was good on the wave but has no presence as a liner reader where you are only as good as your script, which he doesn't write.

They do stream at www.smoothjazz1053.com
