OKV 1065 added a couple of shares...

do the Christmas music stunts still work? It seemed that Lite started waaay too early with it. I don't know how it has worked in other markets. How did Movin 100.7 show? I guess 25-49 women is their demo, I haven't seen those breakdowns yet...

Good observations, but lets mention that WSOS actually beat WMUV in the books. Movin seems to be the wrong format for Renda. Its tanking worse then WKQL did and we thought WKQL was bad off....this is news.... WSOS seems to be responding well and they could easily be a 2+ share in another book or two which would be a first for WSOS to acheive. Does anyone know what station CC is selling here in Jax? WEJZ is working towards getting back up top and I think we will see that the next book. I think they prob retained a lot of listners and maybe even younger listners. The music playlist is very well thought of on WEJZ and everyone on the station complents to the format. The morning show is good to listen to with no one like they are yelling and screaming at each other. Take it easy everyone well I am buried deep in my studies down in St Augustine.

I think it's way too early to call the Movin' format a mistake but many on this board nailed it when they said that without sufficient promotion and advertising, new formats a la Renda are not really given a fighting chance. Like its predecessor KOOL, target listeners are not even aware of the station's existence. If they are still jockless, that's not good either. Hopefully, they will spend some $$$ on the station this year or "forgetaboutit."

My expectation for WEJZ was higher. Throughout the country, many AC stations doing the Christmas format saw a good bounce in numbers as is usually the case. I thought WEJZ did a fantastic programming job with the music mix just being about the best I heard anywhere. One can make an argument that they did the Christmas thing too early but I think it was the right decision. They established themselves as Jacksonville's official Christmas station and this was critical especially if a competitor wanted to do the same thing. You can't turn this format on late as it reduces listener impression in December - when the potential for a big pay off is there.

I'm sure this is up for debate but I think the unusually warm December did not attract as many listeners as there could have been. It's hard to relate to snow and sleighs and frost when it's 80 degrees. Should they do this again? YES. It's a smart move.

Another surprise is WOKV. Maybe this AM/FM combo is bringing in more listeners but one would think that after the elections the core conservative audience would have moved on to other stations at least for the short run. It seems many of their listeners just can't get enough of one opinion.

It just shows Jax has some uniqueness to it when it comes to audience preferences.

How are you guys interpreting the WOKV AM/ WOKV FM thing...Does it count as one station?

the numbers as I get them come split. They are sold as combo and I believe R&R reports combo ratings.
therefore, my original post should give OKV a bump to #3 25-54. sorry for the confusion, I should have given them the combo ratings.

Yes, Sonny, I thought the numbers didn't jibe with mine for OKV, but all is forgiven. I tooka look at some breakdowns and Rooster beat Gator in 18-34. And inched up closer 25-54. I thought ROO would be a ghost by now.... And I agree on the Movin' dilemma, when your demo doesn't know you're there, it's hard for them to listen. Most of us are radio geeks and don't miss a beat with the comings and goings...the average listener needs to marketed heavily, or else......
