Jax Radio Blast from the Past

Sometimes the internet can make you feel like a kid in a candy shop. I came upon an interesting article (hopefully interesting for y'all too) from the Jacksonville Business Journal 8/15/1997 about the then current radio ratings where, get this, WROO beat WQIK.

Remember Paxon Communications and SFX Broadcasting? Anyway, interesting that Renda Broadcasting and WEJZ were noted as "consistent." Often times I wish radio today could be in the hands of those who really are radio people.

Anyway, submitted for your approval and comment. This occurred at about the time I moved to Jax so it was kinda nice to see how things used to be here.

Wow. Thanks for sharing. I remember WROO's Ashley West telling me about that victory. They did deserve it. Even though I was not a country music fan, Rooster was quite tolerable (how's that for a compliment?). Back then, there was a difference in the music played.

WWRR was also a decent station back then, relatively speaking. It was much more "classic hits"...not quite as lively as Orlando's Sunny 105.9, but same era.
