(This has been posted on the Boston and the Northern New England boards since he worked in both areas).
Sad news to mention here.... John Gaurino passed away last week at age 52 due to a series of strokes which may have been linked to lung cancer that he had been battling for the past two years. His deep baritone voice has been heard on at least a dozen stations in Mass and NH including WOKQ, WDLW, WSMN. In fact, back in the mid 1990's he was working on air at 3 stations at once, for many months.... all at least 30 miles from each other, and one of them was close to full time. I don't know how he did it. He had been married for the past 20 years to the lady he loved... I think she was from the Lowell area. John was a friendly guy who I enjoyed getting together with many times when I went to NH to get WKBR back on the air. (We had worked together in the early-mid 80's at WDLW). His voice is still on WJIB as liners between songs. I will miss this very nice person.
