Has anyone heard rumor of Jay Coffey getting a job in San Fran starting July 21st?
 
OK never mind...I'm out of the loop...I see he's starting KFRC 7-23
 
When I first heard Jay in the late 70's he pronounced his last name like the drink coffee.
Sometime in the 80's or early 90's he started pronouncing it like Cafe'. How's he saying it in SF?

I like Jay Cafe' - nice catchy rhyme. But he pronounces it "coffee." Too bad he never worked at James Gabbert's KOFY-FM in the 80s. That would have been cute.

True, kind of depended on what day you were listening to him on. Always thought it was stupid to go from coffee to cough-ay. Guess he was trying to capitalize on the whole Starbucks craze. Met him once and it was a somewhat cold experience. It didn't endear me to him.
 
He also is a terrible programmer, nobody liked working for him at KRTH believe me.
As a jock, sounds gimmicky and that whole coffey name thing thing is so wimpy.
Lots of better jocks with a SF connection than old Jay.
 
Yes as I've mentioned on another post, don't be surprised if you hear a LOT of Hollywood gossip stuff. He seems to think everyone wants to get the "4-1-1" on Tinseltown.

Yes he was a dreadful PD at KRTH---either he didn't have the guts to overhaul the station and do away with Mike Phillips's blockheaded decision to program it as a top 40 station as he stated in R&R a few years ago, or somebody wouldn't let him overhaul the station as Jhani Kaye has done with spectacular results.
 
I never listened more than 30 mins, The Coffee is Decaf. no interest at all ,, I immediatly switch to Bobby Ocean, @ 3pm ,,, funny how things work out,, JMF was a much better choice for afternoon drive,, Even with Bobby Ocean tracked, his show is one CBS probably wishes they would have handled things different,, Now instead of KFRC, hes all over the US and Canada !!! Hey Kenny, aka XM Radio, I just have to know! Do you flood the KFRC listener suggestion line asking to get JMF and Bobby Ocean on KFRC? I thought about doing it, but cannot remember the number while driving.
 
1069_KIFR, no I never call ,,Why bother, I will leave that to you, (888) 456-5372,, Dont suggest bringing Cammy,,or Ron,, When they teamed up Jeff Dean and Cammy in 01, that was a joke, Jeff Dean could have done that solo!! Im surprised CBS didnt use Cammy for the Movin Spots!!
