Jay Leno Subs for Jimmy Fallon on 'Tonight Show'

In tonight’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jay Leno subs for Fallon, making a surprise opening monologue appearance.

Not coincidentally, Leno’s new series, Jay Leno’s Garage, debuts tomorrow at 10 PM on NBC cable cousin CNBC.

Last time we saw Leno promoting his new series, at TCA, he got asked if he’d been approached to be a guest on Late Show With Stephen Colbert to promote the CNBC show. He said no, adding, but, “I’m kind of loyal to NBC.”

Nah, nothing like that here. Just some nostalgia and cross promotion for Jay's new show.

Conan was axed because he wasn't pulling the numbers. Jimmy is.

Chin-boy's prime time show stunk up NBC's ratings so bad they were feeding zilch audience into their local stations' late news, which in turn meant no lead-in for Conan. Their affiliates were getting screwed over, because local news is their big moneymaker. But we've been around this bush before.
