Well Ricky.....

Radio One recently launched its own Urban Talk Radio Network. It now needs places to put it.......The Buzz is a great place to continue that process.

WERE 1300 in Cleveland is going with Radio One's new Urban Talk format. Not sure what other stations they plan on.

Personally, I enjoyed listening to Jay here on THE BUZZ even though I didn't always agree with him. He was smooth and down to earth. I also like Lincoln Ware. Too bad he tends to be overlooked (in local radio circles) because he's very solid, well balanced in his views, and fun to listen to. ET and Box also do a good job and provide a nice alternative to CC's style of sports talkers.

Really, THE BUZZ is unique in its mostly local approach to live, urban talk. Not that many markets this size have such a station. It provides a good service to Cincinnati's African American community and is one of the many reasons I believe Cincy continues to be one of the country's best AM markets. It would be a shame to see THE BUZZ go the way of Radio One's nationally syndicated programming.

Which markets...

...even have an Urban talk station? Off the top of my head, I can name WRLL in New York, and WLIB in the evening and overnight hours. WVON in Chicago isn't even a full time station. They share and they're not on during the middle of the day. I can think of stations in Milwaukee, Atlanta, Tampa, D.C./Baltimore, and Philly. I think Pittsburgh may have an Urban talker too, but does anybody know of others?

Looking at the ratings, I'd say The BUZZ is the highest rated of them all!

By the way I think Nathan Ive got the 1 to 4 slot.
