Jay Michaels - WFAS-FM out

Allan Sniffen at NYRMB.com reports that Jay Michaels, long time morning guy at WFAS-FM was let go today after his shift.

(cross-post from NYC board)

This is really too bad. A solid radio pro with a big connection to Westchester County. I would like to say Cumulus really cut their nose off on this one, but we all know Cumulus doesn't care about people. They will get a replacement for the morning show, but Jay won't be replaced.

Pathetic, 20 years of loyal service and the guy is shown the door for some hare brained plan that will fail and be forgotten in 18 months. Jay carried that station on his back for the last 10 years while manager after manager messed up a pretty darn good radio station and he did it with a positive attitude that his employers did not deserve. He made cumulus a ton of money. You deserve better mr. Michaels - I hope you find it.

Don't worry...if Cumulus plans to revive WRXP on the soon to be relocated 103.9, I think it will suffer the same fate as RXP versions 1 and 2 did.

Interesting, Jay has been on WEOK the last few nights on the true oldies channel. That was certainly a surprise to hear.
