Jay Moberg at WUMB

Kritical said:
I've been checking the schedule on the WUMB web site for the past couple of months. The Morning Express now shows Jay Moberg as the host. It does not say "Guest Host" as it did with the others who have recently filled that chair, such as George Knight. http://www.wumb.org/programs/schedule.php

That means that he has the job (at least for now), which is a salaried position also including being "Senior Producer and Special Projects Director". That job listing, which included being morning drive host, was recently taken down from their job page.

That seems to be the typical mode at 'UMB when they have a shift open. They have a number of different guest hosts rotate filling in on the shift for awhile, but then they never hire for the shift from among the fill-ins. Someone else gets the job, and then the fill-in hosts are (usually) spun out the door.

I don't know Jay, but I've heard him for a number of years as a weekender and weekday sub on WZLX, and he was listed as Assistant Music Director there. He's now off of their jock page. Good luck to him at UMB!

And, good luck to George Knight, I hear he's a really good guy, and I hope he has or finds work soon. I haven't been listening to WROR since they went all Santa, but I hope Albert O. (the other recent WUMB morning fill-in) still has his overnight job there. I've known him since his WMBR days. I hope WROR stays live overnights for his sake.

Jay Moberg is a great guy! I have had the distinct pleasure of working with Jay while he was still a student staff member at Bridgewater State College's WBIM-FM (91.5) in the early part of the decade. He was always a true professional in every sense of the word. More importantly, he was a true gentleman through and through. It's great to hear that he got the chance to get a full-time gig at Boston's WUMB. He's definitely come a long ways since his 'BIM days. I'm very proud of him. Cheers to you, Jay!!!
