Jay Severin 96.9 FM

I only listen to that station with the volume turned all the way down. It's not that it particularly offends me or anything. I just enjoy some tranquility every now and then.

Jay Severin scares me. I registered just to talk about him.

I had NO clue who Jay Severin was until I bought a radio for my office job. The guy scares me. Why does he pretend to be a swingin' single when he is married and has a daughter. Really. And the day he invited that 'hilarious' Korean Comic on the show and hit on her was very sad. she missed all of his sexual innuendos. Heh.

A week ago, he invited a bunch of 'hollywood hags' onto the show to talk about the election. A few of the actresses cancelled, and Seveirn was VICIOUS. The things he said were disgusting. Frances Mcdormand spoke with him for a few minutes. Um, kind of. Severin just decided to throw a bunch of sound clips at her and just utter 'I see' to her responses. Then he ended up just disconnecting the call and declaring victory when Mcdormand clearly made him look like a goof.

It kind of worries me that conservatives idolize this guy.. I've been avoiding his show this week. I can only imagine what he's saying about Obama, ha.

But I'm a fan of WTKK in general. Severin is the only host that really disturbs me.

I love it. Severin scares this person and that person hates him...but yet everyone knows a LOT about his show. I don't agree with his politics, but I enjoy him because of the emotion who evokes in people. Two of you signed up just to talk about him!!

Like I said, I don't like him for his views, I like him becuase it's good radio on the Boston dial!

Just that we're having this thread shows Jay's influence on radio.

Never have heard his show, but I really miss him on Imus. What a shame he gone.

Just that we're having this thread shows Jay's influence on radio.

Sorry...but the fact that we're having this thread just proves that Jay Severin is an a**hole.

A lying a**hole at that. He pretends to like hookers and "casual sex", yet he's married. Now, obviously being married doesn't exclude one from hiring hookers and having casual sex, but, still. That he talks like this, all the while having a wife hidden away, in of itself proves what kind of person he really is.

I guess I should just ignore him. After all, 60% of the people in MA voted for Barack Obama and close to 70% voted down the repeal of state income tax (an issue Severin was FIRMLY in support of). Hence, at the end of the day his thoughts are obviously not shared by most residents of this state. For that, I am thankful.

Some of his callers are just as bad. I heard one woman call and compare Obama's victory to the first 10 minutes of some movie about Nazi Germany. Really, Lady? The rally at Grant Park was like that of a rally from Nazi Germany.

The haters (of which Severin is one of them) just can't handle the fact that Obama won and received 350 electoral votes. LOL!!

So..I guess a poster from above was right..Severin is irrelevant.

I'm guessing Severin is thrilled that Obama won, it'll give him something to talk about for 4 years.

As for the other post about Severin destroying Obama...seriously? It's all talk. He's not really that much of a megalomaniac to think that he has any influence over his white, middle class, suburban listeners.

And the "Hollywood hags" (Marisa Tomei, Tatiana Ali) that were supposed to be on his show? It's dubious that they were even booked in the first place. Sounded more to me like a desperate attempt to keep listeners tuned in through the end of the hour. Pathetic.

Jay Severin dumps on Globe, followed by ad for...The Boston Globe

So, today Jay informs his listeners that he has canceled his subscription to The Boston Globe and he wanted all his listeners to do the same. Then he broke for the weather, brought to you by "The Boston Globe!"

He even took a call after that where a listener wanted to know if he advertised on WTKK would Jay throw him under the bus as well? Jay proceeded to give him the bum's rush. I guess the answer would be...Yes!

Nice piece of showmanship...and not credible in the least. Why a guy like Severino would have a subscription to the Globe in the first place is beyond comprehension.

The only thing more obviously stupid than Severino engaging in grandstanding of this kind is the fact that some listeners will do what he says, like robots (or dittoheads).

It's like Jay is getting crazier and crazier, and this election was just the last straw and now he's Really Nuts.

He'd have us believe he's a gentleman; he'd also like us to think he's God's gift to women. He'd have us believe he's well-bred and well-spoken; yet he expects us to take him seriously as he tries to show off how upset he is with words like hate, fatso, losers, etc.--he's a bully, that's all. Not a physical bully, but an emotional one. I'm glad he's on because it does make for some good radio, but I can only take him in very small doses these days.

If he is just slowly going nuts, well that'll be great radio, too.

Re: Jay Severin dumps on Globe, followed by ad for...The Boston Globe

He's in the media, discussing the media, why wouldn't he have a El Globo sub?

Re: Jay Severin dumps on Globe, followed by ad for...The Boston Globe

Maybe The Globe can give the sales dept. a call and tell them they want a week gratis, every time Severino makes a cancellation comment?

And that leaves 40% of the population to listen to Jay (assuming the 60/40 split represents the listening area, too). Even after filtering out those who think Jay is way too right and those who don't listen to talk, that still leaves a significant chance of building cume...a larger % than, say, Hot AC or Alternative.
