Jay Severin back Tueday June 2nd

The Boston Herald reports Jay Severin will return to airwaves Tuesday.[url]

That's weak. I didn't find anything inappropriate about Jay's remarks regarding "criminaliens." The entire point of Jay's show is to be that firebrand. And if someone is here in the USA without authorization, that is criminal according to our laws and an alien is someone without authorization to be in the USA. What's wrong with noticing that?

What the?

I got the same message earlier, but I can now read and respond to the post. The planet Mars is approaching Earth and we can expect strange glitches from now on.

What's wrong with it is that you obviously weren't listening, because he branded ALL Mexicans as "criminaliens" (no, he did not distinguish between legal immigrants and illegal ones, and yes, I listened to an undedited aircheck of the whole rant), as well as "leeches" and "primitives." He also said that Mexico exports women with "mustaches and VD."

At a time when WTKK's audience is tanking, they can ill afford to lose what remaining listeners they have when VaCayJay the Long Island Carpetbagger goes off the deep end. Calling out the powerful is a proper role for talk radio and journalists, and he certainly has a point about this country's unwillingness to secure its borders. But bullying those who can't fight back is beneath contempt, and hardly necessary in order to make a point.

Can't fight back? Then how did Jay disappear for a month?

Where can one find an unedited aircheck of the show in question? All I could find was a video of the Young Turks playing pieces of it.

Also just bits of it, but the piece WGBH-TV's Greater Boston did on Jay a couple wks back has it I think.
But again just parts of it.

I wasn't listening (had Howie on instead) but Jessica Heslam was. She says he apologized and is doing the show
from Greater's Morrissey Blvd building today.

Not sure if he'll start addressing more local issues; the newspaper next door broke the story of another
MA former house spkr being indicted.

Severin was on the air approximately 1'40" when he replied to a Caller,

. . . and to my critics, I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE, and I WON'T FORGET IT!"

Sounds like a threat to me!

.

I heard some of his show; it sounds like he lost his mojo.

I don't know about "mojo", but what I heard was a disingenuous elated "apology" void of contrition or remorse, self-induced hysteria from an OD of self-love, and an impending threat that sounded like The Don Severino had already contracted out to Vito, Dino, Guido and Tony to take care of some knees around and about town, or worse even.

I didn't stick around to see what was coming next.

Sounds more like a guy who is going to be smart enough to remember those that kicked him when he was down.

Re: "I know where you live":
I heard that too; they were coming off bumper music of Alice Cooper's "No More Mr Nice Guy" and he
was pointing out that actually no, he would be nice, but he did mention the bit, perhaps in jest,
of thanking his supporters--and for his opponents, "I know where you live". (Another "threat" was when
Finneran had Deval Patrick on and he was kidding around with the gov saying the two of them would
go for a ride with Howie and "three will go but only two will come back, if you get my drift")

It has been suggested that Jay start doing some local issues instead of focusing on national. The few
minutes I turned away from Howie to check Jay out it didn't seem like Jay was straying from national.
Here was the big local story about DiMasi's indictment and I don't know if he addressed it. Howie would
have led with it but he was committed to talking to Pat Buchanan at the start of his show (McPhee also
didn't lead with it but perhaps went to it later) But then Howie went heavily into it.

I agree with that suggestion. He's got plenty of ammo with Coupe Deval, DiMasi, Chuck Cooper, Dianne Wilkerson, and the band of brigands otherwise known as our state legislature. Patrick is floundering. He should go for the kill. The messiah's approval ratings will be where Patrick's are in a couple of years, then it will be time to go after him.

He's threatening people who think he's unfit for the job, and it's not the first time he's done this on the air. No defending a bully.

Severin has a TV spot running with his "apology", animated, cheerful. . . sort of like he's advertising Six Flags. Wrong? Sorry? Inappropriate? Rude? e.g., 'Hey, what I did was dispicable, I'm so sorry. . . and more proud of myself than ever. I won! I won! And, I'll say anything they tell me to say to shut them up and get them off my back.' Those TV viewers who have no idea who this homely-looking guy is on TV will now tune in to see what all the hooplah is about. Pure strategy. No remorse. Money, ratings, ego, ego, and ego.

No, he's remembering those that sought to kick him when he was down.

While I dont want to be in the position of defending Severing, let's not get carried away.

There are those (very few) that came to his defense and rightly put the blame on Greater Media for wanting this kind of talk and then SUDDENLY (after 10 years) being appalled by it.

There are those that sought to kick a man on the ground after his fall from grace.

I don't want to be put in the position of defending Severin (I abhor almost everything he stands for).

As far as his fitness for the job, you decide by changing the radio dial.

Greater Media is the one who decides his fitness for the job....they have for 10 years...and are still doing so today. The issue (if there is one) is with them.

Severin -- no "g" on the end. Or, Severino, to be accurate.

Denial is a beautiful thing. You can bicker all you want. . . . but, remember one thing: I know where you live.

Yes, and I'm sure Jay Severin is going to show up with hitmen at their house, right?

And when I say "I'm so mad, I'm gonna kill my kids!" does that mean there should be a protection order out on them?

Denial may be a beautiful thing...but more valuable is insight, perspective and understanding.

2:55PM Today.

Severin is in the studio--not at home--to do his show. Speculation about that being one of the terms of his return seems appropriate.

For someone who doesn't seem to like Jay, you know a lLOT about what's going on with him, his show, where he's doing the show, etc.
