Jay Severin has vanished from MSNBC's new "The Situation with Tucker Carlson." Sources say Severin, a conservative who hosts a radio talk show in Boston, didn't enjoy the commute from his home in Sag Harbor to the TV show's studio in New Jersey - especially when he saw how low Carlson's ratings were. Severin, who has a wife and young daughter, was also promised a state-of-the-art studio where he could do his radio show on the days when he was on TV, but MSNBC didn't deliver. Severin's departure leaves humorless Air America host Rachel Maddow as the breakout star on Carlson's daily panel.

Now, let me get this right. Jay Severin isn't live and local from Boston?? He does his show not from beautiful downtown Dorchester and Morrissey Boulevard but from his house in Sag Harbor, Long Island ? And the swinging libertarian single is actually married with two daughters? Does Barney Frank know this.

Where is the Red Sox connection in that quote? A Glick University T-Shirt to the winner as long as you keep it clean - the shirt that is.

Again, wouldn't it be more appropriate for ou to post this in the National TV board instead? The fact that Severin is Boston radio host is weak link IMHO.

im surprised Severin refused anytime on tv but i guess the ratings for Tucker were absolutely non-existant...i have no problem seeing him depart...but im surprised his eqo let him do it....

I heard somebody trying to sell Imus on Carlson last week. Don wasn't buying it,even though he's the MSNBC morning guy. He should also feel the same about Severin,whom he has on occasionally. Apparently Bowtie presents himself well off-camera: he gets employment. But he's not likeable and I don't know how you get around that, whatever the political leaning.

HA! Poor guy. It's a tough life, Mr. Excedrin.

by the way Laura Ingraham was talking about AlGore's upcoming TV network and said that the description he gave--appealing to young adults in a newsy way, IIRC--sounds an awful lot like what MSNBC was pitched to be. That has failed in the ratings and who knows what Gore's network will do, though we're getting into TV here not radio...

Shocking :) Next we'll be hearing that a certain WBZ radio newscaster is
doing his broadcasts from sunny Florida while pretending he's shivering in the snow with the rest of us.
