JAY SEVERIN IS BACK TO HIS RACIST "AXE THE GOVERNOR" SLUR !

C

Casablanca

Guest
Just heard that racist, Jay Severin on 96.9 say he can't wait to respond to Governor Deval Patrick's appearance on 96.9 tomorrow on Egan and Braude which Racist Jay calls "AXE the Governor".

Time to "Imus" Severin.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
if you don't like it, don't tune in! Protest his sponsors! Go to Scat He Lies of the Globe. Call in and
refute it!
Thankfully once Howie moves to am drive, I can tune to Hannity and enjoy that(Sean just raised more millions for
the Freedom Alliance as 15,000 people attended his concert. Last time I checked, the prog talkers
couldn't match something like that.

I'm sure getting tired of Casablanca (Paul) posting that Jay is a racist every time Jay says something conservative. But what bothers me more are the subject lines, I can ingore the post but I can't igore the freakin subject line.

Paul enough already! It's becomming rediculous. If you don't want Severin on the air, go call WTKK and bitch to them, leave all of us alone already!

I mean, Jay is just playing to the cheap seats there... no surprise. Much like Callahan will call gays "perverts" or "pedophiles," and on and on... so I don't listen. Simple as that. There's enough other stuff out there that I like--or I can listen to my Mike Malloy podcast or all that ILLEGALLY downloaded music (OK, not all of it ;D) on my MP3 player and I'm all set...

Yeah, enough with calling people "racist". The term is now so overused that it has become meaningless.

Perhaps you're a facist, as it is facist behavior to insist on muzzling people whom you do not agree with and, in the process, to deny them their first amendment free-speech rights. Think about it.

Being from the same tribe I could call Severino several choice name the "G" Word or the "W" Word but to what end. The fact that Severin has to paint his dislike of Governor Deval Patrick with the allusion to the mis-placed dipthong some Blacks have with the word "ask" to sound like "AXE" and so to demean the educational and personal accomplishment of the Governor - like his politics or not - shows a strong streak of racism. If Severin can only attack the Governor by reminding his audience that the Governor is Black then I think Severin has already lost any credibility he might have had as I would if I called Jay a "G" or a "W" even though [ and that is another prejudice on his part] he denies his ethnic origin and claims to be something else.

Casa, you're no rookie, you know how it works in talk radio. Cast as wide a net as you can, snag as many fish (listeners) as possible.
If Severino thinks this is working for him, and ratings back that up, he'll keep doing it.
He's certainly credible enough with his audience, despite what's been learned about the truth behind some of his claims.
I don't know what you do these days, but it's a shame you're not on the air (maybe you are, I have no idea who you are). Talk radio could use a passionate voice with a different point of view.

Thanks for the compliment ;) I'll have to get another chair for my ego...
BTW are you hiring??? ;)

Yeah, enough with calling people "racist". The term is now so overused that it has become meaningless I agree. I've mentioned the term has been bandied about recklessly for years now. It's not a word to be taken lightly. That said, I cannot stand Severin, so he's simply a zero part of my day, week, month...year, and I aim to keep it that way. Works for me.

severin must have gotten the word from the suits not to use the word "AXE" today... or he would be AXED !

The specific problem is that Governor Deval Patrick does not speak like that. However, Jay Severin goes to a weak point in some African-Americans who have the problem of a displaced dipthong that causes listeners ears to focus on that mispronunciation and to make a judgment that anything else they say should be dismissed out of hand. Severin would like his listeners to make that same jump and same conclusion when it comes to Governor Patrick. Unfortunately Deval Patrick's pronunciation skills do not comply with Jay Severin's prejudices which in my book causes me to dismiss anything Jay might say.
Severin has this problem of creating ad hominem attacks which weakens all his arguments. It shows a lack of intelligence on Severin's part that they only way he can make this arguments is through ad hominem attacks. Of course, some think this makes good theatre and good talk radio. Didn't like it when Jerry Williams did it and don't like it when Severin does it. But that is the direction WTKK is heading and Howie Carr should fit right in. Look forward to "Mumbles in The Morning" and "Fat Cow" in the evening if you like that sort of thing.
It is tiresome and repetitive and in the long run not good talk radio except to the choir.

I've never been dumped on a message board, good thing there is a 7 second delay. Casa, I still can't figure out why you listen to Severin if you don't like him or agree with him? You say that only his choir listens to him, and that's just it... he has a choir to sing to. I've said it before, if you don't want white DJ's to make fun of the way black people talk, then you have to agree that it's not right to mock southern accents. If you say that across the board it is wrong to make fun of ANYONE who may or may no talk with an accent or diction, no matter what color they are, then I'd have some respect for your point. I wouldn't agree, but it wouldn't be a double standard.

Nice catch. And Kerry Healey wasn't some Milton Academy preppie, Irish Americans don't all speak with brogues and dress like Celtics' mascots, and most Italians don't speak or act like Don Corleone, nor most Germans like Sgt Schultz.

It is parody based on stereotypes, and it's been around for about as long as the country. What exactly do you find strange about this? Or do you think some folks or groups have been immunized against parody?

As my friends of non-Christian persuasion might say, " Oy Vey! A life you should get."

from Airplane!

Randy (stewardess): Can I get you something?
Second Jive Dude: 'S'mofo butter layin' me to da' BONE! Jackin' me up... tight me!
Randy: I'm sorry, I don't understand

Jive Lady (Barbara Billingsley, aka Beaver's mom): Oh stewardess! I speak jive. He said that he's in great pain and he wants to know if you can help him.

Randy: All right. Would you tell him to just relax and I'll be back as soon as I can with some medicine?
Jive Lady: Jus' hang loose, blood. She gonna catch ya up on da' rebound on da' med side.

(later, subtitles appear: "S--t!" is translated as "Gee!")

btw am trying to figure out the black slang used in an old song; it's very confusing. What does
"I've got sunshine on a cloudy day/ When it's cold outside, I've got the month of May" mean?
Darn indecipherable slang! :)

Meanwhile, my language is perfect: I'm goin' down to the packie to pick up some tonic. They have
some wickid pissah stuff there...I said, the packie. What're you...retahhhhhhhhhhhhded? :)

I think that Severin's barbs would be more effective if he took the racial aspect out of his criticism of the Governor. Deval Patrick does not fit into those stereotypes.

It's a parody, get it?

It doesn't seem to be having an effect on anyone but you. Nobody who's heard Patrick speak thinks he's some ill-dictioned Bromley-Heath homie, anymore than educated people think Copernicus was stupid because he was Polish. And anyone who does, on either score, doesn't count because they are morons.

What you and, on the other side, certifiable nitwits like Maloney don't seem to understand is that you can't go to the wall on everything, you can't find racism or conspiracy lurking under every action and utterance and expect to be taken seriously when something actually important rolls around. After a while it becomes like white noise, nobody cares what you think because nobody notices.

I'm a hard core conservative, and I depart from Patrick on almost everything, especially social issues. Despite those issues, I won't waste my time listening to Carr or Severin or Feinberg or Graham beat Patrick to death on every slip-of-the-tongue or political misstep because I know where they are coming from and find their critcism occasionally amusing but essentially meaningless. They, like you, have no sense of perspective or proportion.

Tom Finneran, in his political days, sucked all the air out of Scott Harshbarger's campaign for governor with one remark about him being a moonbat lefty. That is real, gloves-off opinion and political power, not Carr or Severin referring to Patrick as Coupe-Deval.

Boston political talk radio, in case you haven't noticed, is politically powerless. Your mentor, the Dean of Talk Radio, had one political success in his entire time on the air in Boston, the rollback of the seatbelt law, which almost seems quaint looking back at it now.As Boston talk radio has become almost universally conservative and Republican, conservatives and Republicans have vanished from positions of power, with the Dems essentially running the table last election. Patrick was pilloried by almost every talk show host in town, non-stop, and blew Healey away without breaking a sweat. Talk radio is entertainment of the preaching-to-the-choir type, and nothing else. Why you want to spend your life in high dudgeon over what these folks say is beyond me, and does why you even listen to them, except so you can act as some kind of thought-patrolman.

Plus, all news has a shelf life. Yes, Howie Carr torpedoed Williams over a decade ago, nobody cares. Yes, Jerry used his influence to get his sweetie a Lottery job...nobody cares. Jerry actually threw you under the bus...and nobody cares, not even you since prefer to buy some counterintuitive BS about irresistable polical pressure.

To make a long post even longer, nobody cares how Severin wants to depict Patrick's diction, because it doesn't matter. It's just boob bait for the bubbas.

TSB

Seems Jay Severin got several calls today calling him a racist. Severin who passes himself off as a libertarian wants the government to prohibit Casinos in Massachusetts.

One can not help but think if Willard Romney (Republicrat, Utah) had proposed it Severin would have thought only a 'genius like Romney could have proposed this.'

Jay, your hypocrisy is showing right next to your racism

If you want to hear real racists, tune in Dennis and Callahan. They actually implied that O.J. may have killed Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman. This, of course, was refuted by their two most progressive, open minded callers, Germain and Everett.

These two individuals seem to suffer from the same "displaced diphthong" which you've mentioned several times. It's been a while, but I do have a minor in English and I don't recall ever hearing this term before. Could you explain this term's meaning to those of us who are not familiar with it? I've looked it up in several old textbooks and have found no mention of it. It must be a recent afflicition.
