JAY SEVERIN NOT BACK UNTIL NEW DEAL REACHED

G

Guest
The Inside Track in the Herald notes today that Jay won't be back until a
new deal is reached with 96.9. May I suggest this....if a new deal is not
reached with Jay, that 96.9 keeps Hannity in the current 3-6pm time slot,
and adds one of the new up and coming talk show hosts, Jerry Doyle. (I believe
the feed for his show is 10pm-1am from Vegas.) Who from 6-7pm? Maybe,
Mark Levin, the colorful talk host now on WABC, New York and, I believe,
also on WBAP in Texas. Your thoughts??

Doyle's already on WRKO...unless his contract's about to run out there...

Indeed, but just his live Saturday show 11p-1am. You know TRN... they'll pull anyone if you run a couple hours of their crap shows. Throw Tammy Bruce on Saturday overnights and you're in! Of course, Savage is on 'RKO, but Ingraham's on 'TKK. Hmm.

As to Doyle's show, it was moved to 3-6pm ET, and refed in his old slot 10p-1am ET. Don't find him too interesting, though. They could always bump Ingraham to 6-9pm, get a 9-mid or 9-1 show (local?... Michael Graham?) and J&J overnights.

I think it's silly to run Vanity for two slots every day. I say keep him at night and put Laura in the afternoon slot. Her show is entertaining as well as informative. How are the ratings here? Would it do well?

And what's the deal with running Ego and Rowdy for an hour before the Leprechaun (noon-1), and an hour after the first Vanity show (6-7)? Maybe they could be given a single, longer show. Although, they both talk 100 mph (and over each other), so maybe they wold run out of things to say in a longer format.

How about Larry Elder? We don't have him in Boston.

Better yet, run Laura live. Suggestion:

6-10 am Imus (at least for now)
10 am - 1 pm Ingraham (her first hour rebroadcast at noon. WVMT does this.)
1-3 O'Reilly
3-6 Hannity
6-9 Eagan and Braude, or Severin if they get the new show
9-mid--Eagan and Braude, if Severin gets the 6-9 slot

Or if they want local 3-6 run E&B then and do Hannity 6-9.

need a local person in afternoon drive. Not a place for syndie in a major market.

Doyle? Levin? Ouch

station has a habit of 'winging it' when it comes to programming

Jay has always said that if he gets syndicated he would always do the "same show" he does now and always be in the "same place" meaning WTKK. He always made it sound like the Boston listeners were his main priority and if syndication came along they (the syndicator) would have to adapt to what Jay wanted to do..

I do think (for Jay's sake) that Greater Media needs to let the listeners know what’s happening with Jay, many casual listeners who do not follow this board may think that Jay has been fired because of the Globe's Op-Ed piece. The best and brightest may think he's gone for good and may form new listening habits for their PM drive.. Somebody should do a little damage control or Jay's credibility could be compromised when/if he returns..

Greater Media should have seen this coming months ago, especially because his contract expires at the end of the year. GM should have had some type of plan for this.. Say what you will about Jay’s integrity BUT one must not forget the numbers he puts up for WTKK.. I’m sure advertisers are not too thrilled about Jay’s extended “vacation” . Again, Greater Media needs to step up and let people know what’s going on, Jay is still under contract. Greater Media holds the ball until the end of the year..

I realize you all have your pet names, but this is borderline...bring it in a little. Next time I won't hesitate to make the post disappear.

Oh, and this has NOTHING to do with any hosts sensitivity as some users want you to belive and it has EVERYTHING to do with MY sensitivty to keep this board clean.
