Jay Severin on Vacation. Will 96.9 Give Up Local Broadcast During That Time?

Jay Severin announced that he will be on vacation in Nantucket until Labor Day.

Does that mean that 96.9 will give up the local time to Sean Hannity for those two weeks ?

If so, this radio dial will be going elsewhere. Listening to Hannity is tantamount to listening to Press Releases from the White House or Crawford, Texas basements: Boring and Predictable.

96.9 will just be giving a boost to Ed Shultz on Air America and to the 'Ink stained wretch' on the other station.

Well at least he'll be in Massachusetts not Long Island. Without him the station is another reason why I can't stand talk radio and it's juvenile discussion. Give me the days of Gene Burns and Jerry Williams where talk was stimulating and fascinating. At least we can hear Gene on the net at KGO-San Francisco.

You think he found a rental with a built-in radio studio in the
basemenet and an ISDN hook-up?

Exactly !

parklane...this is the way it has ALWAYS been. its either severin or hannity. new york city plays hannity at 3pm and they dont do too bad...people who love republicans love hannity. there is a market.

Sorry, Parklane's right. Continuity is everything in talk radio. Greater Media badly neglects WTKK. Get some stinkin' subs.

Yes, and they say there is also a market for drugs. Both are mind numbing.
Rather, a local like Avi Nelson or someone of his intellect than Hannity.

"Stinkin' Subs...."

WTKK's Motto Should Be:
"Stinkin' subs? We don't need no stinkin subs...."

Get some stinkin'subs.

Meatball subs or Stea & Cheese?

96.9 has no farm team. They run so much "Best Of" on the weekends, along with the money and sports shows, that they have no talent to go to that can fill in and keep that precious continuity. WBZ has Jordan Rich and Bradley J to cover for the full time hosts, WRKO had Mo Lauzier for years who would fill in, Howie Carr has VB to cover for him.

Now Rich Schaeffer who does the Money show on the weekends on 96.9 has done talk for them in the past and isn't bad at it. People who listen to 96.9 know who he is. Besides in the last 2 weeks in August does it really matter? It's not like people are too concerned with filling out diaries IMHO.

Where is TAI? He could easily fill in for Jay, keeping it live and "local" and he is a proven commodity, he can do talk radio.

Does Jay get 14 weeks a year or only 13?

I'm guessing it's Hannity unless they want to plug in Tai
I like Hannity but yes he can be a bit much at times. I love
Howie and am not into Jay

SH also attracts liberals/Democrats (and they do call in). By the way there is such a thing as a conservative wing of the Dem. party but it's been slim
pickin's lately (Lieberman, former Sen. Zell Miller)<P ID="signature">______________

WTKK has been promoting the fact that during Imus' vacation this coming week (August 22nd-26th), Eagan and Bradie will locally fill-in for him.

Maybe (if he's working) Mike Barnicle will gain some extra airtime.

This might also be an opportunity for WTKK to try-out Tai in the afternoon as a fill-in for Severin.

Good Choice. TAI is easy to take but I wish he would drop "TAI" and go with Tom Irwin. The initials may have been ok as a disc jockey but it takes away from his credibility as a talk host which he handles very well. Not even fond of "Scotto" for Scott Allen Miller but perhaps it is because I always wore a Tux to the studio.... ;-)

I know the situation is a little different, but how can GM's WTKK run a local show instead of "The Worst of Imus" and not get in trouble for it when Citadel's WPRO gut in trouble for running a local show - Joan Rivers while ElRushbo had subsitute hosts while he was in Rehab?

Re: Scotto

Maybe they figured "Scotto" would sound good next to Blute, like his predecessor "Ozone" .....

Between vacationing in Nantucket and skiing in Aspen, Flattop Jay sure likes to hang with the Beautiful People!
