JAY SEVERIN'S NAME IS NOT THE ONLY THING HE CANNOT SPELL

Take a look at Steve Bailey's column in today's Boston Globe.
Jay Severin took a looney because he was left off the invite list to Emily Rooney's Greater Boston 10 Anniversary party at WGBH Channel 2.

Severin sent an email which Bailey reprints and it is full of "spelllling errroers".

So, Jay has trouble spelling things beyond his name. Get this man a spell check.

Oh, by the way, the GM of WTKK fired Emily Rooney from her Friday appearances on Jay Severin's show.

Has, Julie Kahn gone over to WTKK ?

The biggest surprise to me is that I've always assumed that his on-air personality is all shtick. If the e-mail sent to Rooney is real then perhaps the shtick is not that far from the man himself.

Poor baby's feelings got hurt. I guess that's why he was doing his 'stud schtick' yesterday as described by NHRonin.

Does he know, that while he's trying to make everyone think he's gettin' some a la Wedding Crashers, we all know what really happened - which is he was standing outside the WGBH building, face pressed to the window, watching all the happy, beautiful people inside laughing and talking, while he stood outside. Alone.

It's enough to make a Lifetime movie out of it..... (except then he'd have to turn into a woman-hating sociopath whose purpose in life is to name-call, bully, break, wreck, put down...)

wait a minute....

The real shocking part is that the WTKK G.M. FIRED Emily Rooney.
She said it was an financial problem.
Really? Perhaps, WTKK 96.9 has ALL its money tied up in the offer it made Howie Carr.
Does this mean there will be other firings for economic reasons at WTKK? Is Greater Media in financial trouble? Hmm?

Bailey does reports for WRKO so he naturally would love taking a jab at the rival station...
and he also gets paid to be on Emily's show, too.
The mis-spellings could be because he was upset and typing fast and furious, and didn't
bother to proofread it before sending. Oh well...Jay got left off "Emily's List" :) *

it stands for Early Money Is Like Yeast

Who knows about the GM/WTKK situation. After they paid big bucks for the Sox, the news team
at 'RKO was let go. Financial situation, you see...

Your response is not quite fair. Steve Bailey noted in his column that he is often a guest on Emily Rooney's show and gets paid $100.00 per appearance.
As to Jay's "typing fast and furious", how stupid is Jay Severin really?
Anyone knows in this day and age that emails are NEVER private communications. The very least he could have done was to use the spell-check system which comes with every email system. You cannot excuse Jay Severin on this one. More than that, Severin passes himself off as a "political consultant". Can you imagine if he had advised one of his clients to send off a similar email. Maybe he did and that is why he is no longer in the political consulting business.

No, Jay Severin made himself look like to quote Jay "A sissy-boy".

But again, is WTKK - Greater Media in financial trouble that it is firing people for economic reasons?

Well, I did say he gets paid to be on Emily's show...as for financial difficulties for GM, maybe this is
an indication or maybe not...but Tom Taylor's R-I.com column notes that down in the New Jersey
area of GM's reach, one PD has been let go and another has had his job expanded to cover two
stations. Belt tightening?

btw time to update the Greater site. With regards to WTKK it says:
"The day is rounded out with nationally syndicated personalities Imus in the Morning, Bill O'Reilly, Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity."
Imus and Hannity are both long gone.

Wonder if Emily Rooney will bring this up on tonight's Beat The Press or does it hit too close to home.
Nonetheless, to be fair she should discuss her own station as she does the others.

More on this from...
Dan Kennedy http://medianation.blogspot.com

Brian Maloney http://www.savewrko.com
"Sadly, it gets worse: have you ever noticed how much Jimmy tries to sound like an erudite college professor delivering lectures to a new crop of fresh-persons? If you had long suspected Severin The Intellectual was as phony as his on-air name, you were correct, sir: he's at best semi-literate."

(I suggest a trade: Entercom lets Howie go to WTKK in exchange for that Pulitzer prize winner,
Jay Severin. Complete the destruction of a heritage AM talker! They'll be soon running informercials
or religion before you know it...)

Will, Jay Severin bring this up on his show today?
Doubt that he will.

Yeah who knows. Dan K. : "The foul-mouthed Severin is the most self-referential of talk-show hosts, so I'm guessing he'll spend most of the afternoon whining about this. We'll see."

I still remember when James Thompson Severino III (oh, rah-THER...) started his doomed syndicated show.
When a caller dared ask him, "And how is your lovely wife Renee doing?", Severin, who portrayed himself
on air as a swingin' (and probably young) single, responded "I don't know what you're talking about."

The arrogance and condescension in his voice was priceless!

Jay only alluded to the 'unpleasantness' by reference to the unauthorized release of the firemen's autopsy reports.
He said something like ' Now, who would release someone's private communications....um...um.'
Severin(o) is broadcasting from New York City today. Said he has a wedding to attend tonight.
Will he score ??? ;)

the only question is who has a bigger head... Jay or Emily? I like watching her "Beat The Press" show in spite of her presence. This is a woman who thought the Patriots' defensive back was named "Samuel Assante." And we've discussed her confusion about Roxbury and West Roxbury. I never heard her appearances on TKK. Did she bring anything to the table?

Watched Emily Rooney's "Beat The Press" tonight and she ducked the issue completely.
Wonder if it involved Jay and let say Boston Magazine's annual party and Jay wrote the same English impaired email to them if she would have discussed it

Severin talked about being a native of NYC but I think he's from Poughkeepsie.

Was Greater Boston taped in advance?

Greater Boston, far as I know, is taped a few hours before air time. Gives them time to edit things, which are pretty obvious at times

Severin is terrible radio especially when he starts his "Swinging Jay" schtick. I can almost picture him sitting in his home studio in a leisure suit and shirt unbuttoned with gold chains hanging out.

My general response to Jay?

Click.

Hey forgive him his errors. He was desperate to get that letter out and get himself the late invitation.

What does Maloney have against him? They are of the same ilk.
