I know it's a bit past the time when the results of the last ratings period came out, but I just wanted to give Jay Sorensen some congrats on his good showing on WJRZ. Jay's been a staple of the Monmouth-Ocean listening area for so long, and his talent and knowledge of all things radio have always been apparent. No, I'm not the president of his fan club, just someone who appreciates a guy who "tells it like it is" (to excuse the dated expression) and knows what he's talking about. Way to go, Jay.

Wasn't Jay out on disability for most of the book? I could be wrong, but I thought he was really sick and gone for at least 2 months.

Re: Jay Sorensen and Anita Bonita

I got a chance, on my day off yesterday, to listen for the first time to Jay and Anita together. They both have many years of experience and it showed by the way they complemented each other so well. I even enjoyed the five minutes when Jay's computer spontaneously rebooted and they had no access to the music, so they ad-libbed and discussed what to do.

The chatter and repartee, including the "inside jokes" about radio gave this listener/radio geek a chuckle. As a 50-something who remembers the days of Top 40 radio from the '60s, '70s and '80s, I not only enjoy the tunes, but also the between the songs bits.

With the end of CBS-FM's 30+ year format last June, I've had to find alternatives. When I'm in central New Jersey, it's Oldies 100 and 107.1 The Breeze (Tim and Diane are also very entertaining in the morning). (I've even picked up The Breeze on trips into Brooklyn.)<P ID="signature">______________
