JAyde and Annie in the morning..

well, since we all thing this is going to happen anyway come January....

What do you think of Annie and Jayde's 'solo' outing now that todd is out for afew days?

it's still very rouh around the edges sounding to me. like she's not quite ready for the mic when she doesn't have someone pulling the heavy guns.
and poor annie can hardly get a word or two out without tripping over her own thoughts...

I wonder if PLJ is thinking about just letting everyone go listening to that ;o)
checking out their website, they do have a syndicated group of young 20 somethings on at night they could move to morning..assuming that thing is still on ;o)

You seem quite confident that PLJ will get rid of Todd by late this year it seems. Now don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of his. I think he's a phony and two-faced for the way he treated Scott. But are you sure they'll take the financial hit and get rid of him if, say, he has a contract? Or will they suffer him for another year or two, get rid of him then, then see how well the audience has responded to Jayde?

not just me...pretty much everyone thinks that these days.

for some reason, I seem to recall that they sign two year contracts... although that may have been a joke number mentioned once...so not sure on that..but no. If he still has a contract by december, I think they will probably keep him until it runs out. they are already at the bottom in NY at least...question is are they hot enough in NJ, where their audience has always been, to keep things as is...

checked out a little of plj. today seemed a tad smoother than the last time i checked in.

The morning show is NOT the problem - The station itself IS the problem as it lacks direction.

The currents and "throw backs" do not mesh very well together and short of Todd, does anyone really care about the personalities?

My thought? I would blow up the station and adopt the modern music format heard on GO 96.3 (KTWN-FM - Edina, MN) along with the new (and outstanding) GO TV concept . www.go963mn.com

But of course, none of the suits or consultants really care about MY thoughts. All they care about is how they can save their phony boloney jobs.

And so we are left with the same crappy radio as always.

yep, I agree. some of the music they are playing now that is modern is a tad more up beat and fun than what they where playing even five years ago. but the 'oldies' don't mesh in well with the newer stuff..It even sounds weird on scotts show where he plays a short 5 second clip of a new song as a show introduction.

but I guess, this week will be a good test to see if the audience will stick around when it's just jayde and annie and to a lesser degree, monk. it'd be interesting to see if the ratings dropped if todd wasn't around, or if they stayed the same.
seeing as how radio is kind of crappy these days, i'm willing to bet it'd be the same. people just leave it on out of habit.

Given the number of alternatives available, there's no need to do that. A bad station gets bad ratings, and that's the case here.

Good radio stations, and there are lots of them in NYC, get good ratings, as evidenced by WLTW, WCBS, and many others. If you don't like PLJ, don't listen. But don't say "radio is crappy" just because this one station isn't doing what you want.

The Go format is interesting. It's basically an alternative station that isn't calling itself alternative. Makes sense since alternative has made a lot of headway into the CHR space these days. Still not sure how well it would work here in the long run. It would have to be marketed very carefully, and even then there would be few guarantees that it would do any better than previous attempts here, vs sounding like another Lite/Fresh/CBS clone.
