I just heard that Jaye Michael Davis of WDIA was killed in a morotcycle accident last night. His wife was severely injured. That's all I know at the moment. I'm sure there'll be more about it in the news today and tomorrow.

Yes, you are correct. I am in shock over this one. It happened in Mississippi.

Just heard from a friend of mine with the Sheriff's Dept. that his wife didn't make it either.

Sad day.

I had just started getting to know him. I was in the studio talking with him just Friday afternoon since I was covering traffic on WDIA. Super nice guy. This is indeed a sad day.

I used to listen to WDIA alot when I worked in Clarksdale/marks for WROX and WQMA.

My thoughts, prayers and condolence go out to his friends, family and co-workers.

I am very sadden to hear the tragic news of Jaye Michael Davis. I've had the chance to speak with him on several occasions and he was truly a good person to be around. My condolences go out to his family and those that worked so closely with him at CCR Memphis.

I'm listening to WDIA right now, online of coruse. I urge people to tune in on 1070Am or online at am1070wdia.com

My deepest, heartfelt sympathies to everyone that knew them. Especially their family, friends and co-workers at Clear Channel Radio.

Got the chance to tour the WDIA studios and chat with Jaye Michael back in 1997 . He was a great guy and super nice person . My deepest sympathy to his family and to his fellow co-workers at 1070 WDIA . Memphis has lost an outstanding citizen .

Did he work at WMPS in the late 70's? Overnights?
I think I worked with him. A great guy.

I know Jaye was doing overnights at WHBQ as late as 1976. That's what he was doing when I first started there.

We've had a few losses in the broadcast community here in the past couple years.
This is a time when you really get to see the good in this town.
So many people have lost that friendly voice from inside the box they look to help getting through another day. The don't make em' like they used to. I send my sympathy and prayers to Jaye's family, friends, and co-workers.
