Jazz on the radio

Most cities can't support one F/T jazz station. Orlando has two, WLOQ and the station for UCF. Why is this?

WLOQ is long gone; it's a Spanish station now.

Miami once had "Love 94" (similar to LOQ) & WDNA. WDNA remains. It is what I call "root jazz," not smooth-jazz like Love/LOQ.

cd

Edit: OK you mean the 102.5 xltr. Should that really count?

Nope for two reasons. One is that it's a xltr. Two is because it's Cle....well, nevermind.

Isn't WLOQ alive on some small xmitter ... www.1025wloq.com ... run by ClearChannel (satellite feed) ... they even advertise the station on other CC stations.

Web site says their address is:
2500 Maitland Center Parkway, Suite 401

The 102.5 is a low power translator relaying the cheap channel automated smooth jazz format via WMGF-HD2.

Love 94 still exists in Miami-Ft. L as WMIA HD2, and I am sure it's in parallel with WLOQ. No sense in separate programming.

cd

I thought WLOQ was gone, but they were at 102.5 when I was in Orlando 2 weeks ago. What about the UCF station? That sounded like real jazz
