Jazz on WBGO 88.3 FM

WBGO 88.3 FM should get a ton of new listeners/donations now that 101.9 has joined NYC's crowded Rock market.

I wonder if the Smooth Jazz crowd would want to listen to Traditional Jazz.

They might get a very, very tiny percentage of CD 101.9's listeners at most. A lot of what CD 101.9 played wasn't jazz *at all*. Green Onions? Phil Collins? Nope, not jazz.

Probably not. I like Smooth Jazz but never liked traditional jazz. I never listened to CD 101.9 on Sunday nights when they had that jazz show.

the smooth jazz crowd does not crossover with the jazz crowd much at all. former QCD listeners would be much more likely to either go over to satellite or just switch over to WLTW or WRKS rather than WBGO.

During today's fund raising drive, the President of WBGO remarked about the demise of CD101.9 and asked their listeners to come over. I think at least a few will. In any event only 7% of listeners of non-profit radio stations actually donate money.
