JD Hayworth comeback?

Unless I'm mistaken, there are ads from the Maricopa County treasurer's office on the radio voiced by sports guy turned congressman turned pundit JD Hayworth. Might he be testing the waters for a return to Phoenix airwaves? Or is he just helping a Republican friend?

Chief Deputy Treasurer is Russell Pearce. Any more questions about Foghorn Leghorn?

A few years ago I was at a party in Raleigh, hosted by a guy who worked at our campus radio station at NC State...essentially an annual reunion for anyone who had worked there. My wife and I were loading up our plates at the food table, and a very genial and friendly fellow struck up a conversation with us. He introduced himself...JD Hayworth.

I vaguely remembered JD as the student body president when I was a college freshman, and I remember hearing him on Phoenix radio from time to time when I lived in Tucson. But I did not recognize him until he introduced himself. He had moved to another state and started his sportscasting career by the time I got to the campus airwaves.

Anyway he seems like a nice guy in person...but he and I would agree on almost nothing politically. Especially given his hosting duties for Newsmax.
