And yes, a public figure IS elected. JD does have the right to sue your sorry ass for libel. Being that he is a fairly well-known on air personality, it makes him the target of people's opinions. Now if he were to go after anyone who wrote or said anything bad about him, it would not only be expensive but it would also state the fact publicly that he's unable to take the heat. Thus, suing isn't a smart career move.
Just keep that in mind should he decide to get a job at Home Depot.
Maybe you ought not get your legal advice from the lawyers you see advertising on TV.
