Jeanne loves Jack

In the Jeanne Jakle column in today's Express-News, Jeanne confesses that she has been listening incessantly to "Jack" since the flip. Egged on by a reader who says he switched from Magic 105.3, she disses Magic for its small playlist, while expressing fondness for a few of the on-air staff there. Another reader who lives on the far North side says he switched from Austin's Mix 94.7. (Wonder how/why he overlooked Bob?)

Perhaps this explains why she didn't mention Jack in the ratings story? Jeanne has a Jack fetish!

Re: Jeanne loves Jack and so do many others

Jack is going to take a good chunk of listeners from Magic. The trend coming up this month should be an eye opener for Magic and others. Maybe that will get Magic 105.3 to update their playlist.

I agree. Jack's impact will be felt by the lower end of the 25-54 demo - Magic's specific strength. But, with the question about their stagnet playlist - don't count on any quick changes. It's too early.

I think they have already reacted as best they can. They seemed to expand their playlist when BOB signed on but quickly forgot about that. Magic has always competed with KQXT for the "at work" listeners and that is where they will lose to Jack. KQXT will feel some impact but as long as they stay on the soft side and let harder edged Jack do his thing, the biggest loser is magic.

Hey Cox! How about a nice modern alternative on 105.3 to compliment KISS-FM. Let LA Lloyd program both so they can keep the playlists straight and you might see some cash flow.

I like Jack and Bob, both seem to put out a great playlist.
______________

It would be nice to have an alternatve station here, I've been wating for one for 10 years.

Jack sure likes to play The Rolling Stones alot.

The best part of her Jack story is the opening:

" I have a weird confession to make. I've been listening to the radio ... regularly ... for hours on end.

Moreover, I'm doing it in my home, not just when I'm captive in the car."

Hello? You mean to say that the Express-News Tv and Radio critic actually listens to the medium of which she reports with such authority? Shocking. Shocking I say!

What will Jakle confess next, that perhaps she owns TiVo so she can go back and watch TV shows or newscasts that she is reporting on?
