Jeff and Jer to KyXy

Jeff an Jer, missing for more than 17-months from the San Diego airwaves, are slated to return to radio rely next month.

KyXy.

Yes it's a done deal Jeff and Jer return on CBS Radio KYXY Charlie Quinn will be announcing soon.

Sad -

Sonny West and Company are getting the boot then I assume?

Dysfunctional Laura's diary said on Dec. 13 "I’m bordering on crazy-crazy as I await some important news."

Does anyone really believe that CBS Radio in San Diego is going to spend the money for TWO morning shows? Moving Sonny West and company to afternoons makes no sense in this radio economy. I hope they do spend the money, it may indicate that RADIO is back and willing to spend for talent.

That is a crowded building: how are they going to fit those two new egos in there?

That is absurd to mess with a money maker like the Sonny West morning show!! It would make more sense to get rid of Mike O'Butthead on Sofie and Jeff and Jer would fit the format better too!

Having all of those people in the afternoons seems like a huge waste of salary. Sonny is fine but Gene is better! Plus where are they going to put Jeff and Jer at it took a studio that was 20x40 at KMYI and a news booth and production room! The KyXy studio is 10x15ft with a news booth thats 6x10ft. Either there has been alot of dieting during the break or someone had better be ready to swage alot of people into some REALLY tiny space.

At least Gene and Sam keep their jobs, Love Songs with Gene Knight will be very interesting, might be worth listening to now??

My suggest, Scott, is to buy CBS Radio and then do that very thing. It's easy to be an armchair program director or general manager but those that are the PD, and GM ... will make the decisions that are "best" for the station.

It is not important where the stations are in ratings the first of February; it is where they are at in three, six, nine and 12-months.

Yep, what Chris said...

You know Chris youve obviously never worked for a program director or else you would know that there is maybe one or two in San Diego that have a clue how to program the rest are just there warming a chair. A great deal of time PDs are dj's that couldnt get a job on the air anymore!

Ok so there's no format flip? No format wheel spinning? No filling in of "_ _ _ _ -_M" ?

I thought all was going to be revealed on Friday?? Now Jeff N Jer are on "rumor control" until Monday or Tuesday?

What a crock of bogus teases.

But I have. I've worked for at least half a dozen. Chris is correct, and knows what he is talking about.

The previous CBS San Diego PD/OM told me that they kept getting turned down when seeking his replacement as he was leaving town (about 11 years ago) and were turned down by 10 or so people before Quinn accepted. Since then KYXY has continued doing well with minor adjustments to its legacy format and the the 103.7 failed with many formats under Quinn before someone else apparently came up with Sofie.

So should we have confidence he'll do what's "best" for the station?

Hell no.

It's exciting to have Jeff and Jer back, but hope they make some changes. They've had 17 months to think about how to re-energize the show. Sadly, having the same cast back won't help much, but maybe... just maybe they'll add some excitement back to their show.
