Jeff and Jer

I have a quick question about jeff and jer on KYXY. Does 96.5 sound like this all the time? (ie the sloppy board work)
I can't believe how bad this sounds when I'm listening, and I only mean the production value, not the content.

Kyxy FM is operated by perhaps some of the most talented and experienced people in the industry and is owned by CBS Radio. If you were listening on-line, then you probably heard the audio being clipped, because the on-line audio is handled differently by a system that re-shuffles the audio blocks to fit with the on-line spot-load, which is separate from what is heard locally. CBS does this with all their online stations. I have noticed that often, the online audio server will cut segments off so that it can broadcast the network spots, and then continue with the cut off segment.

I'm not sure if I've explained this clearly, but I've observed it on all of CBS's online content. I've even heard them interrupt a station ID in the middle, for a spot and then play the rest of it.

CBS has a crappy automation called Audio Vault that does a sorry job of switching on the internet feeds. But if I were going to vote for the best board op on KyXy it would be San Diego's top 40 veteran that has been put on the Love Songs Show. Gene is the greatest and should be on afternoon drive!

Morning Shows are terrible on afternoon drive!

Looking at KYXY's big slide in overall AQH, is the online stream the big problem there? Has anyone seen a breakdown of morning show numbers?

They're not really a soft A/C kind of show. Perhaps KyXy alienated their target audience by putting J&J on 96.5 instead of Sophie (which fits their sound better)?

Target audience is women: they are in the top three.

Where were they before JnJ? They now a lot more mouths to feed at KYXY so it would seem like going down even a little bit is not good for the bottom line.

I wonder why CBS didn't hire JnJ for Sophie and build a station around them instead of KYXY where Sonny West and his Crew have been successful for years and a better fit the soft hits format better than JnJ- who are truly talented but a bad fit on a soft AC station.
And Sophie still is not a ratings winner. Maybe Jeff n Jer thought 103.7 was a cursed frequency.

Sophie is a much better fit for JnJ but 103.7 has poor coverage. Try getting them in a building outside of the La Jolla / UTC area

Agreed!!! Gene is awesome, and while he is making the Love Songs show sound great (like he would anything he does) he deffinately belongs back in afternoon drive!

And I'm with most everyone...KyXy was just fine the way it was and I've always lived off of the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" theory, which is what I always liked about KyXy (until J&J). 103.7 may have a crappy signal, but yeah, J&J could give that station a benchmark, and get KyXy back to its original lineup! But..for now that's wishful thinking I guess.

Sofie and KyXy would both have been better off with Jeff and Jerk on Sofie. I am not in control of those stations....Thank God! Gene Knight is the best "disc Jockey" in San Diego. (DSC are not Djs they are personalities). I am sure knowing that Bob is incharge of those stations that he is looking to remedy the ratings issues now created by Jeff and Jerks arrival. Bob is one of the best GMs around and one of the greatest people Ive ever known!
