Jeff Dauler

According to intrepid AJC radio reporter Rodney Ho, Q100 has removed Jeff Dauler from their website. There is no indication on Dauler's FB page or his website that he has left Q100.

Any one have details?

Purely speculation, but maybe Jeff and Rob Thomas had a falling out.

Just heard from Jeff. His contract expires tomorrow. They have yet to come to terms on a new contract so maybe Q100 is just prepping for him not to be on the air Monday if they don't have anything signed by tomorrow.

Maybe Cumulus thinks he's really negotiating a contract with both Jeff and his wife and is considering bringing in someone else cheaper. Maybe former Buck in the Truck from Kicks might be more along the GM's budget.... ;D

I think Cumulus book keepers have been counting down the days till the end of his contract.. Dude makes WAY too much money, and to me, is not THAT important to the show. Look for Cumulus to make a few more cuts as well.

A source told me that Dauler will be producing Randy and Spiff's show on the Greatest Radio Station Ever - True Oldies. In addition, he will be the booking acts for the Ultimate Oldies Concert at the Georgia Dome July 31, 2010.

I would imagine Dauler used to make $300-500K including promotions. As of Friday he will be making $330 per week.

Odd thing here is that every member of The Bert Show has a different contract date. This works to Cumulus's advantage. If the members of The Bert Show or there representatives were smart, they would get together and have all their contracts expire on the same day. If one goes, they all go. Who would Q100 put in mornings if that happened? (Zakk, Cledus and Super Phat Mikey.) How it is structured presently, the only one Cumulus has to be concerned with is Bert. If a member drops off, someone else can take their place.

What's the status of Dauler's stake in the Flying Biscuit? I swore recently when I drove past the one on Northside Drive near West Paces it said 'Under New Management'.

Neil, are you out of your mind? There's no WAY that kind of money is in front of Dauler--or just about anyone else, for that matter. Have you ever worked full-time inside a real radio station? When I was programming in Washington DC (much higher cost of living than here), the walking in the door, AFTRA contract union guaranteed money was $22.5K A YEAR - and this was 1993. We had full time people on the air in DC for that amount.

Similarly, San Francisco--the max salary paid to anyone on my full time staff was $75k annually, except the morning guy, who'd been there since 1959. He made just shy of $300k.

I have to respectfully disagree with you CX... I worked in Atlanta and was pulling down over 100 outside of morning drive. I heard Dauler was 200+... I was FLOORED when I heard it. Btw Bert is mid six figures. That show is carrying Q100. I could see them paying Dauler last time he signed a contract. But these are different times.

I hear you and am not saying people aren't making bug $$. BUT--there's no way in the world that people, other than AM drive or talk hosts, are making $$300--500K annually. Bert and others in AM drive are the exception, as are people like Boortz. But the average shift jock? No way.

Agreed... average music jock ain't makin jack these days. But were talking Dauler here. He was there from the beginning and I did hear he was 200+, which as we know, is ridiculous in these economic times. So I will venture to say he either takes a HUGE pay cut or he's gone. I'm guessing the former. Radio gigs are tough and I'm guessing he doesn't want to give it up.

The key phrase, CK Dex, is "including promotions." Inside is correct, because he agrees with me, about Jeff's salary. That money is behind Dauler, not in front of him. He signed that contract before the economic meltdown when Q100 was still climbing and Steve and Clotty were on Star 94. He will have to take at least a 20% decrease in salary which he will have to start hustling the streets for endorsements to make up hte difference.

Jeff needs Q100 for his endorsements, his Flying Biscuit interest and his wife's website. Without a radio gig he has no pedestal from which to promote other interests. The smart money says he is back at Q100 on Monday. In this economy it is better to have some money coming in rather than no money coming in, trust me on this one.

He is in AM drive so what is your point? Jeff wasn;t making no $75k. I would have thought $250 with promos and all.

So when does the Jimmy, Jeff and Yvonne on 92.9 Dave FM show start? I am guessing July 1, 2010. Sure it won;t happen but it would be a good show. They are friends I know.

This will have no effect on Q100.

In this economy and the state the industry is in, if Dauler was getting what others on this board claim he is, and if he only has to take a 20% cut, he'd be a fool not to take it.

Ok, I give. You're all right, and I'm totally wrong.

You guys apparently are living in some kind of parallel universe, I guess, where anyone who cracks the mike gets paid the big dollars you're talking about. You may be right in this case but I am dubious...that's 30 years of PD experience, including major markets, talking here. I worked for CBS, CC, Evergreen, Bonneville, and many others who had big stations in big markets with big payrolls, so I'm confused as hell reading these comments. Because I KNOW what was going on...including at stations like WCBS-FM, NY, when Joe McCoy was the Program Director, and WTOP Washington, with Jim Farley running it.

Sure, there are the exceptions. But the vast majority of talent is underpaid and overworked.

Good for whomever can get the kind of money you're talking about. All I know is: I never saw it with any of my people, nor in stations I worked closely with.

If this kind of money is being thrown around in Atlanta, I have many, many friends from markets much larger than this who'd be more than happy to take a plane down here and get to work. No kidding.

CX.. YOU ARE CORRECT! Ha... Few are making that kind of money anymore. That's why it was a shock to me when I found out (From a few sources) how much money that guy is making. 20%? Try a 70% pay cut! And even THAT'S good these days in radio. Cumulus low balled the RG's with an incentive based contract with a VERY low base. They ain't gonna pay Dauler!
