Jeff Tiberii

What’s going on with this fellow? Is he an intern at WFDD? Are they in such of bad shape that they can’t pay a professional to read some old news? The guy coughs, sneezes, has hic ups, keeps repeating Ehhhh and really can’t read without making mistakes. If he had worked for me when I was a PD he couldn’t have lasted more than one month.
???

He's been there a while now I doubt he's an intern, I tune over to WFDD every now and I can remember hearing him more than a year ago.

I think WFDD runs basically off of whatever the school budget can allocate towards them. They have a budget just like any other department of a college. I have NO IDEA how much money they can get, but with the economy the way it is, even at a school like Wake Forest I can't imagine they give that much to the college radio station even with its broad programming

WFDD operates with its own budget; just like another NPR affiliate - WUNC-FM. They take contributions, have FT employees, etc.

You guys are right!@ he is one of the best on the airwave. I still miss Steve Inskeep's brother, FBI. He was good too but Steve seems to be out on the street doing live hits more and I never here FBI anymore. BYTW, wasn't the famous "Zoot" on the FBI show back in the day? He was sooooo much better than Bob Jordan in the morning. IMHNOH. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

I totally agree about Jeff's lack of on-air talent. He stumbles, fumbles, and generally wears me out. I can't believe how many mistakes he makes. Is it a general lack of confidence or what? I also think he has allergy problems that might be part of it.

Allegra, Singulair, etc. etc.... :D

        :eek:Cumon Guys.....be kind to this person. He probably has some kind of hardicap. You every notice how guys with no talent or voice want to be DJs.....hey it good way to get the ladies....OH YEEEEEEEAH! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Anyone notice Jeff has not been around? I heard a sports report this afternoon voiced by David Ford and David has been doing the morning show, as well. Jeff is either 1) On an extended vacation, 2) No longer there, or 3) out sick (really sick to be this long). Anyone know what's up?

Maybe they'll get better ratings now that he's not any longer on the air.

Jeff was hired on as Greensboro/Triad Bureau Chief for WUNC, beginning 9/12. It's on his Facebook page.

(For the old, retired, "it was better in our day" crowd, Facebook is a website where people much younger and in far more control of their bladders than you all go to keep up with past acquaintances, co-workers, and the like.)

old Mitch Hedburg line:
"I don’t own a cell phone or a pager. I just hang around everyone I know, all the time. If someone needs to get ahold of me they just say, “Mitch,” and I say, “what” and turn my head slightly…"
...fill in for Facebook.

Wow! That's a slap in WFDD's face, BUT I'm not sure if WUNC knows what they're getting there. It might be a blessing in disguise for WFDD! He was really pretty awful.

Was that necessary; is that an attempt at humor? If so, it failed. It only shows your intelligence is limited and that you more than likely will fail the ninth grade when you get there.

(For the young, stupid, "I'll never understand math" crowd, intelligence is what some people use to actually communicate. Those without it often end up attempting and failing at humor on forums used by people who understand how to express an opinion that makes sense and who own, run or work at radio stations that employ losers "and the like".

I used to volunteer/intern at WFDD, mostly with Jeff. And I will agree that prior to going in, I had listened to him make a few more mistakes than was pleasing to my ear. But after a few weeks, I started to understand the breadth of his responsibility. He was the only full-time news employee, in addition to being the Morning Edition host (most NPR member stations would never have only 1 employee doing both), so he regularly put in 12-hour days (that started at 4:30am). He did the research, interviews, editing, writing, and production for most of the local news cut-ins, and if he didn't voice it, whoever did was probably using his stuff. I guess because he was the youngest around there and everyone assumed he had the energy, anything extra tended to fall on his plate. So don't be too hard on him. Glad to hear he's moving up to WUNC!

OK. You convinced me that he might have been overworked. I'm hearing things from people that WFDD is pretty hard on its employees. Sounds like he was really used. Guess a lot has to do with the current economy and radio in general.

WFDD is pretty small with a large coverage area, so I think their resources are stretched pretty thin, but the management over there wasn't impressive, either. I've heard through the grapevine that their relationship with WFU isn't particularly strong. As far as all radio budgets being tight, I don't really have a lot of insight, but I do know their budget is pocket change compared to WUNC.

If Jeff Tiberii can move from one radio job to another, then God bless him and more power to him.

There's nothing better than nameless online posters critiquing people getting hired for better jobs.

He must really suck after being a Morning News Anchor then getting hired to a better position with one of the great NPR Affiliates in the country.... ::)
