Jeff Zucker Leaving NBC

He destroyed Late Night programming. Leno will never recover fully.

Afternoons you have one soap. "Days of our Lives" that's been on Life support for about five years now but recently got a recent pump in ratings that will not last. It's been the same story line for 25 years now.
Mornings are ridiculous with 4 hours of the TODAY show.Should I say more about that.

MSNBC is an embarresment of a News channel that really needs to be revamped and maybe a name change.

Weather Channel is not what it used to be with shows that should be on the Discovery Channel and if I want to Watch a movie THE WEATHER CHANNEL is not my first choice to catch a flick.

Chiller and Slueth I guess is ok with the nitch audience.

Telemundo my understanding does better than NBC sometimes.

Jeff.Don't let the door hit you on the way out...........

Seriously, what took so long? Even before the whole latenight thing. When he took over NBC was #1, now its in worse shape then the Fred Silverman days of the late 70's / early 80's.

Good riddance! If you want a laugh, read the e-mail the paper reprinted. One paragraph in it sure sounds like a lie to me. ::)

OK. So he's going. The question is: what's next?

Should NBC look into selling The Weather Channel, for example? What about Telemundo (and mun2)? How would they start fixing up the early afternoon hours or do they give those back to the affiliates? What happens to the O&O station group? Would NBC Sports merge with Versus?

We may be in for interesting times ahead.

They can sell the networks on their own "ShopNBC" channel. :D

Kenwood: TWC no longer shows movies, but of course, the damage is done...

is he joining Greenpeace? ;D

Rush Limbaugh (the source where I first heard of Zucker's departure) predicts he will join the White House in some capacity...

Also let's hope that he takes Contessa Brewer with him as well.

Contessa. That is one stupid name. "The Contessa" was the names of one of the characters on the PBS games show "Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?"

And allow me to hijack this for one second. I think WGBH/WQED should sell "Carmen San Diego" into syndication. That's better than a lot of the other crap that passes for E/I programming.

At least Contessa Brewer didn't get canned from Walmart nor is she working for less-than-minimum-wage as a DJ in a second-rate night club nor living in a thug-ridden neighborhood.

She didn't choose her name. You likely didn't choose yours. Lighten up.

After watching the ND-Stanford game today I think I may see yet another NBC failure.

I have no idea who signed this sweetheart deal or how much they paid but it obviously isn't working. ND's performance on the football field continues in futility and the announcers NBC assigns to the games are equally bad.

Today was one of the most one-sided announcing jobs I've ever witnessed by a team that should, by all accounts, be neutral. Apparently NBC doesn't see it that way because until the game was out of reach by ND very little of a positive nature was said about Stanford and excuses kept being made about the failure of ND. I didn't witness the whole second half but every time I did tune in it seemed like the sideline reporter was talking about ND and when the game ended they again talked with the ND coach.

The next two games should be easier for ND. They play a second-rate Boston College next week and then return to South Bend the following week for Big East doormat Pitt. But I won't be watching.

And let's not forget "The Barefoot Contessa" on Food Network...

I wonder if you have the channel that has O'Reilley, Beck, Hannity, Palin, et al on it. If so, why don't you watch it since you obviously don't like the channel that has those you mention plus Ratigan, Matthews & Scarborough on it.

Ohh yeah....Better throw in O'Donnell (Not Rosie though seeing her on ANY news channel would be most refreshing) in there as well as he's the new kid on the block.

In other words - If you don't like the channel - WATCH ANOTHER ONE

Just my opinion.....

Cheers :D
