Jefferson Kaye Has Passed

Carl DeSuze. Dave Maynard, Jay Dunn, Jefferson Kaye, the other Bob Kennedy, Bruce Bradley and Dick Summer.

Two notes:

(1) Although Jefferson Kaye for a time worked nights at the old WKBW-1520 in Buffalo (with it's huge nighttime signal), Kaye started at 'BZ in the overnight hours circa 1961 and even after moving to afternoon drive, did Saturday nights. Thus, while at 'BZ, some of his work reached far and wide thanks to it's big 50,000-watt nighttime signal.

(2) Wasn't Jefferson Kaye until recently the narrator for NFL Films, having succeeded the legendary John Facenda when the latter passed away??

Jefferson Kaye aka Jeff Krimm and JK the DJ got his start in Providence, RI at WRIB and then WHIM working with the likes of Ken Garland (later WIP Philly) and Jay Dunn (later WBZ). I used to listen to him regularly at both Whim and 'BZ. A very funny and talented guy. Yes, he was also with NFL Films. His line "Smoke if you got 'em, it's newstime" hits a sour note now that I find he died of throat cancer. He will be missed.

RIP Martin J. Krimsky.

That was the WBZ line -up mid 60s. Know Dick is still with us with the Binder and Binder ads.

...and I believe Dick Summer is still heard locally for 15 minutes or so at midnight on WCAP.

On Jefferson Kaye, not only did he work in Providence before WBZ, but he never left the state of Rhode Island when he worked in Boston. He commuted to 'BZ from one of the Providence suburbs.

That lineup is like the 1961 Yankees of Boston Radio. Kaye and Bradley are the Maris and Mantle of the group. It's amazing that a kid (23-24) would be the afternoon drive guy on one of the biggest stations in the Northeast.

Where can I buy a Delorean? I want to go back.
