Jen Brien Officially Gets WBZ-1030 Overnight Show

raccoonradio said:
Quite a few negative comments indeed though she does have some fans. Overnight radio is one reason I started subscribing to XM years ago...more choices. (Including rare times when breaking news happens then; the night of the
Japan tsunami I went back and forth between the audio of CNN and Fox News on my sat. radio)

Too bad none of our radio networks think it makes bottom-line sense to run a 24/7 news format, or even something like the BBC World Service, which has non-news features but always stands ready to go all-news for a major event. (Yes, I realize how the BBC is funded and how Americans would be in the streets with shotguns and pitchforks if a scheme like that were to even be hinted at here.) I have Sirius XM too and have never been able to stomach the sound of television-on-radio.

Was this a planned absence?

He mentioned during the show that he only had something like an hour's notice that he would be on. Either way, I was happy. The show has a much more relaxed tone when he's on the board. A true professional... :)

Jen suffered the death of one of her closest friends over the weekend....Peggy was a 96 year old woman, with whom Jen had developed a close relationship with -- really serving as as close companion to her over the last few years -- spending time with her on a weekly basis (sometimes more often). She was really shaken by her death, and could not take to the air last evening.

Considering her on-air meltdown the night before, no surprise.

Morgan has had numerous short notice calls. That's when they involved Steve. If it was Lovell Dyett there was a chance there was no notice...just run for SFR.
I miss Lovell.

While I'm sorry about the passing of Jen's friend, I'm starting to think that Jen might have somewhat manipulated this whole situation to improve her image. The week seemed consumed by endless discussion revolving around death and the beyond. Didn't seem like it was entirely professional. Is Peter Casey clued in to how obviously displeased people are with "information that's entertaining" Jen Brien?

That's the general consensus of all of the posters on WBZ's comment section on Jen's program page. She's milking it for all it's worth. It's pretty disgusting, to say the least. And if Peter Casey is not clued in by now, he must have his head parked up his keister... ::)

I don't know where you folks get the idea that Jens grief is all manufactured? -- its a pretty disrespectful claim, and I hope you have some evidence to back this up.....If not, then please move on and stop disgracing yourselves....

There's one in every crowd... We've seen your posts on BZ's programming page, it is apparent you are a hack for Ms. Brien. ;)

All one has to do is read the comments & her FB comments to determine that she is that shallow.

I didn't say that Jen's grief was "all" manufactured. I suggested that it might partly be so. It strikes as suspicious when someone with a show of disputed success suddenly starts cranking out hours' worth of talk about a subject that can evoke sympathy.

The grief is on anyone who has ever listened to this very odd person. Sorry, I don't have a tin foil hat or might listen... ::)

Huh?

Keee-rist...I wouldn't rely on Facebook, R-I, or any web comment for determining anything, including the weather. Usually it's just over-the-top crap posted by folks looking to convince others that they're a lot more clever than they really are.

I've never listened to a second of this person's program, but if that posted criticism is of the same quality and insight of that usually found here concerning air-talent, I wouldn't be surprized it she's the second-coming of David Brudnoy.

Regards,
TSB

And Jen Brien is a no show on 8/12. For the first hour, Bradly J kept saying he would be on until Jen showed up, and then beginning the second hour he stopped mentioning her. Selecting Brien for this show is definitely one of the worst decisions ever made by WBZ.
