Jen Brien Officially Gets WBZ-1030 Overnight Show

Ater this unprofessional no- show Jen Brien should be a permanent No Show.

You are right, Bradley is no longer saying he is waiting for her to show up.

Bradley Jay for Jen Brien now...

Have you noticed that none of the callers are asking about her. :)

LOL

Unfortunately, Bradly's not much of an improvement in my book, but I will say one thing for him; He's not stuck on himself like Brien is. So she pulled a no-show, huh? Cool...just another nail in the coffin for her BZ tenure.

And Jen Brien is a no show on 8/12.

Uh-oh. :-\ Dum de-dum-dum.

Giving Morgan a one or two-hour notice every once in awhile is one thing, but a NO SHOW is a totally different ballgame. I can't imagine this is going to bode well for her at all.

I hesitate to continue posting on the "Replacement" thread because, so far, no one has come forward with hard information about it. Did anyone hear Jen talk about Whitey "around 4 AM" as she proposed?

Heard Hendrie's latest comeback (this time ex-TRN) for a few min's in the middle of the night and he sounded great.

He doesn't have a Ma affiliate anymore (no 1480) but 1520 is strong out of Buffalo.

I'm a Hendrie fan from long ago. Haven't had a chance to listen to his new show yet. He was getting kinda stale there for awhile...his constant complaining about the stare of radio, TRN, suits, etc. grew quite old. Hope he has started off with fresh material. I will check him out on 1520.

I haven't enjoyed her show when I've listened, but I feel like at this point a lot of you are piling on and the attacks are getting personal.

Makes me uncomfortable, too. Nobody in the peanut gallery here knows what went on this past weekend, what prompted WBZ to give Brien the overnight show, how the listeners (other than the Facebook crowd, whose opinions are about as accurate a reflection of reality as the postings here are) are responding to the show, how the advertisers are responding to the show. All we know is what everyone else knows: what comes out of our speakers when her show is on.

I'm guessing that a lot of you, like me, are 45+, maybe even 55+, males. I understand that it may be difficult for someone in that demographic to understand how a younger female listener -- or ANY female listener -- could listen to this sort of personality. I see the same sort of snark and vitriol every time the subject of Delilah's syndicated show comes up. But there's no reason to get personal or assume that she's about to get fired, have a breakdown, or anything else. Just my opinion.

I think a lot of the latter is wishful thinking. I've heard her show in Providence & she wasn't well liked on the board there either but the only thing about her show that put me off when listening to her was her view of people who aren't health nuts like she.

I don't understand how having an opinion about a talk show host makes a person part of the "peanut gallery". And, they're not personal attacks being piled on. We're simply stating what we like/dislike about the show.

As far as the personal attacks - I suppose you are referring to the odd/annoying/bizarre mannerisms that several of us have pointed out that she engages in Ad nauseam. Pointing out that she "UH-HUMS" 10 times in 5 minutes in not hating her, it is pointing out how unprofessional she is. No class talent whatsoever.

There's quite a difference between Delilah & Ms. Brien.

Delilah is a professional in her field. Her show is listenable, even if you do not care for the format. She does not talk over listeners/callers, make annoying sounds, talk about feces & the like. Again, quite a vast difference.

I found two off the top of my head.

I can't believe she graduated from college.

Anyone check out Butler Hospital on Providence's East Side ? ;)

Again, I'm not a fan of her show, but for someone to suggest she's sitting in a mental hospital is a little distasteful.

I agree that the criticism on this board is way over the line -- more interested in the numbers she is generating for BZ (e.g., listeners, ad dollars, ratings). Objective metrics are still the way most businesses measure performance -- and I gotta believe the CBS/WBZ is a real business

After being the most-frequent fill-in for Steve LeVeille after his unexpected retirement from radio last year, Jen Brien has officially been named the weeknight overnight talk hostess on WBZ-1030, where she will be heard Sunday-through-Thrusday nights (Monday-through-Friday mornings) between 12:05 and 5 A.M.

Thank you for letting us know..... I hope she does well, ill have to tune in some night and listen :)

After listening to this woman, Jen Brien, last night it is clear that she is on the verge of or in the middle of a nervous breakdown. Peter Casey should be ashamed that he has allowed her to go on mic unless he wants to create a radio talk show version of Howard Beale. One might expect her to tell her listeners soon to " go to the window; open it and shout ' I'm as mad as hell and I am not going to take it anymore' ".

You can only feel sorry for Ms. Brien who should be celebrating her radio achievement but is obviously in a complete melt down.

Peter Casey must bring this to a close immediately. He is allowing Jen Brien to embarass herself and raised a serious question of WBZ ethics in allowing this station to expose this individual who in in need of immediate mental health to self-destruct behind a WBZ microphone.

She wasn't liked on RKO, she wasn't liked in Providence, she's not liked on BZ, what does that tell you? It tells me we are right about her.

Don't care if she is not like she is just a terrible talk show host whether her fellow workers like her on not.

If she continues talking about Peggy and turning the show into a therapy session, that's out of bounds and inappropriate for talk radio. It's not fair to drag others down into one's depths of depression or sadness unless you ask them one-on-one and they consent. In other words, you see a professional therapist. If this is some kind of ratings stunt, she's doing a bad job of it and someone from on high at WBZ needs to tell her to change the topic.
