Jen Brien Officially Gets WBZ-1030 Overnight Show

I am almost afraid to listen this morning - she's just coming on. I personally thought she was great, although different from any others I have listened to. After these last ten days, it is very clear that Jenn needs some serious professional help immediately! I also hope that Mr Casey will do something - sooner the better.
 
She mentioned this morning that she gets a ton of mail and has yet to go through all of it. Which means nothing, really. Each host has an appeal to a certain mindset out there.

Unfortunately she doesn't appeal to us listeners with more than a few brains cells left to rub together, and hasn't thoroughly dowsed them with drugs & booze (her fav.topic material).

How, in the name of all that's reasonable she ever landed this gig is beyond my comprehension. This mornings show? Another train wreck, or course. Oops, I meant to say UH-HUM. ::)

BTW, I'm so bored with the whole Kerry Connolly thing; what does that actually add to the show? I guess it is better then Jen sitting there whispering to herself like she usually does, though.

Seriously though, that bit sounds just plain stupid. Is the schtick supposed to be reminiscent of two schoolgirls babbling about stuff?

...cause if it is...it 'aint working...

Kudos to Joe Mathieu for taking the high road... ;) Smart move, get off the sinking ship before it settles to the bottom.
 
I still don't get it. ??? For me, she sounds great. She did mentioned that she is Greek. Maybe that is is the way they talk (Refering to when she whisper, or say "umm") or Maybe it's just an habit.
Other than that. For me, her show is great.
Whatever you all don't like, I hope she can get better or I hope you all get what you all ask for.
 
Going off the subject right quick, I have his name on the tip of my mouth. He was the host who was recently on the overnights. It's not Bradley Jay, nor Morgan White Jr, nor Jordan Rich.
The guy I'm thinking about sounded like a (Grandfather Voice) Like he was someone's Grandfather. Nice soft voice. He sounded like (Norman Nathan=who used to be on way back in the day) Anyone know who I'm talking about?

They used to have a guy named Pat Desmarais on Saturday nights and he'd fill in from time to time.
Not sure if that's who you mean. Another fill in host has been, and he's being used now I think,
former RKO host Todd Feinburg but he doesn't have a grandfatherly voice. Not sure who you mean.

This guy was recently on overnights before Jen Brien came on.

His voice sounded like a (Like someone's Grandfather) he had that kind of voice, like a old man voice, but very nice sounding

He doesn't sound old and he is an excellent grasp of Massachusetts politics of which Jen Brien has none. Do you mean Dean Johnson ?

I'm wracking my brain & I cannot think of anyone like that who filled in on BZ. As near as I recall, the only other host not mentioned was a good while back - Bob Lobel filled in a few times. While I wouldn't exactly describe his voice as "Grandfatherly", I would say it is not unpleasant. I'm not sure if he would be a good full time guy, though.

The BZ listeners are used to a certain kind of host; Larry, Norm, Bob, Steve...all, while different people, had a similar style of broadcasting that was pleasing to listen to.

I am wondering if you aren't thinking of Ralph Graczak; His voice could be described as what you mentioned. He is on KDKA and other CBS stations as a fill in for Grayson, and he also appears on the weekends if I am not mistaken.

Sounds like a very personable guy, although he can be a bit heavy on the political stuff. I grow weary of hearing about war all of the time.
 
Steve L. does not have a grandfatherly voice, lol. I'm sure anyone here would attest to that. And on the weekends, Jordan is really the only host on deck. Morgan's voice, however, could be interpreted as grandfatherly. He is very mellow & easy to listen to.
 
Another unprofessional and annoying aspect about the Jen Brien show: How many times do we have to hear her talk about how all men are dogs, how bad men are, etc.? Does this train wreck ever end? And since when was a talk show supposed to be all about the host's problems? That is pretty much all we have heard for the last week. If she is getting solid ratings, then this country is even worse off then I thought it was.

I'm telling you. Go on TuneIn Radio and listen to Phil Hendrie. He sounds a lot better since getting back to live shows this week.

That's nothin' new for her. She's had the "man hating" vibe since she first took to BZ's airwaves. It is all about the hosts (Jen) problems so she can appeal to that listener mindset. Easiest way to boost rating is for her to throw a nightly pity party. ::)

Hendrie is a genius, I've followed his material for years - through the good & the bad. I hope he can pull it together for this latest "reboot" of the show as he has been running on empty lately as well.
 
Dunno if it means anything, but Jen is closing in on nearly 4000 Facebook friends -- a lot of folks from across the country seem to be tuning in.......

Guess it depends on your position; To me, it means there are a lot of "sick" folks out there that have an off kilter mindset like she does. I can't say much more than what has already been said on the subject. Some people love her/some strongly dislike her. (Not personally ::)

...just her mannerisms, delivery, attitude, drug references, narcissistic attitude, etc.
 
Varulven Records has more likes than Jen Brien.
