Dyett passed away in May of 2012, yes, last year as you say...Laurojrm said "Recently"...
By "recently" I would think he meant someone in the last 6-8 months.
it wasn't him
If you all remember (Norm Nathen) from back in the day. The host I was talking about sounded just like him (he sound like he was old, like a cool grandfather voice) He was on overnights. I think it was Steve ?? Levil?? something like that. He was the one who was on most recently before Jen Brien, and before Morgan Came along, and before Bradley JKay came along.
I think it was Steve.
He was on Sunday into Monday, and weekday morning (overnights)

yeah, that was Steve Leveille. He retired a little over a year ago. He could do 5 solid hours on such topics as 'What's your favorite brand of sausage and why?'

Getting rid of him was probably cost-cutting so unless he wanted to take a pay cut--he may enjoy retirement though btw. Leveille needed rides to get to the studios as he's legally blind...and yes while he might enjoy doing shows, I think he said he enjoys retirement now.

LAUROJRM,

I must inquire again - are you certain of the time-slot & station? Steve is a very good host & I miss him a lot...but his voice is similar to Mark Levin's. I wouldn't consider that grandfatherly. Steve does not have an "old, grandfatherly" voice.

I still feel you are thinking of the fill in host during the week & weekend (sometimes) on KDKA AM 1020 for Jon Grayson. I am drawing a blank on his name at the moment...Ralph or John... I can't remember. ???

Jen mentioned last night that she'd be having a meeting with Peter Casey today "just to touch base and review things" or something to that effect. But then she said that, afteward, she'd be staying to take headshots for the website. I've got a feeling that Jen will be sticking around for quite some time, which is too bad, because 50,000 watts of radio power could be devoted to better hosts and topics.

It would be nice if P.C. made the "correct" decision. ::)

My sense is that it's a regular meeting the PD has with all the "talent," in the loosest sense of the term in her case. I wouldn't be a wit surprised if the management is blissfully unaware of the substantial disappointment in the 12-5 slot and sees no reason to keep the course.

Define "substantial." Other than "everyone I know" or "the people who post on this forum," that is.

thank you
So why don't they put him back on if you all don't like Jen?
He was pretty cool as well

quite simply because Steve Leveille retired. BZ did not get rid of him (this time). They can't force the guy to come back. He would have to want to be put back on, and from what I understand he's perfectly happy in retirement and has no desire whatsoever to return to radio.

This is correct. The first time they got rid of him. The second time Steve got rid of them. I think it was unexpected to management--he was too young-- though some who listened and heard a particular kind of distress could sense he wasn't going to make it through 2012.

After he completely front-loaded his Vaca time that was that. I knew something was up.

Nathan had a better voice for radio than Steve (Norm' appreciate me saying that). They do not sound alike though maybe stylistically they had some things in common.

As anyone in the survey business will tell you, self-selecting polls are absolutely worthless. If 'BZ wants to find out how they're doing talent-wise (other than ARB), they'll hire someone (like, maybe, my daughter who's in the biz) who knows how to find out.

It's a shame that listener feedback doesn't count. Or maybe it does...I don't know how the surveys are conducted. However they do it, I sure hope they make a decision quickly. Otherwise, I'm listening to 10 months of Phil Hendrie podcasts.

I think " that woman" misunderstood what Peter Casey said.

He probably said she was a "Head Case" not "Head Shots"..... ;)

Huh? Listener sentiment is one of the few metrics that really does matter. What doesn't count is info from self-selecting polls.

Sorry that I was unclear.

For crying out loud, WBZ management.

How much more urine/defecation talk & illegal drug promotion are we going to have to take from this woman? How is she permitted to get away with all of this?

I guess BZ is attempting to re-brand their image with the female version of Howard Stern. Utter stupidity is what this is all turning out to be. She must be making her mother very proud of her. ::)

I just couldn't deal with any more pot smokin' discussion and just shut the radio off this morning.... it actually felt quite good.

Apparently she has her own office at BZ now, with a desk and telephone and wall calendar and the whole ball of wax.

yes, it is him, and you are right, he does also sound like Mark Levin. Yes it's Steve
