Jen is done

Morgan said he will read the statement at top of each hour("we decided to act in the best interest of our listeners"). He said people could call to talk about it but didn't seem too anxious to do so:"my advice is, it happened...let it go". Now talking about guest suggestions.

Yes, I was listening and immediately came here to watch the posts come in.

But was she fired or did she resign? That was essentially my question.

When the statement says that WBZ has decided to go in a different direction and that the Jen Brien show will no longer be broadcast, I think it is safe to assume she was relieved of her duties.

When someone did try to speak about her, Morgan told the caller, "When I said I was going to not say anything else about it,
that means you aren't going to say anything about it as well." He said the statement was self-explanatory.

Todd Feinburg seems like a nice guy...but I really hope he doesn't get it if he is going to talk politics all night. I really liked Dean Johnson.

Sort of disappointed that Morgan isn't letting people call in about Jen, but at the same time it is probably for the best. The woman clearly has problems.

She was not a good host even as a fillin on the Rhode Island stations. Terrible on WRKO, she never shut up, on and on and she dwelled on topics for days and weeks, like Peggy, her dog, on and on. I found her very annoying when having a conversation with Kerri, wanted to hear Kerri speak, but, Jenn never closed her mouth.

He said people could talk about it when he first read the statement at 12:08, but everyone that called in & mentioned her name got shut down in a hurry. It's a good way to handle it - no mention of her any longer & move on to the next chapter of the show.

It's a basic rule of radio: move forward. What would be gained by talking about Ms. Brien - good, bad or indifferent? Continue on in the most confluent manner.

They can't say anything on-air but the reason for her instability is that she is on drugs - not specified if prescription or illegal.
Clearly she exhibited signs of being clinically depressed. She said early on her brother and father are alcoholics. So, there is a family history she had to battle.
Hope she gets help and has a happy life after WBZ Radio.

Who will be the new overnight talker on wbz radio?

Who will be the new talker to takeover the WBZ Radio overnight now that Jen Brien has been terminated?

Does Morgan White, Jr. have the inside track or Bradley Jay ?

Todd Feinberg doesn't have a light enough touch to do overnight.

Other candidates ?

Can anyone name another major station in any US market that spent a year auditioning talent on air for an overnight slot and then, after a couple of months of airing the selected talent on a supposedly permanent basis, canned that talent and, presumably (but who knows?) returning the overnight slot to on-air audition mode? While I was never really a fan of Brien's (she clearly couldn't hold her own on serious topics), the only reason for canning her that makes sense to me is that she breached her contract (for example, when she failed to show up for a scheduled shift and Bradley Jay had to do seven hours in a row on air with no warning).

Very good comment by Dan including the bit about breach of contract. These attendance problems didn't happen when she had her RKO shifts (10-noon, 1-3p).Didn't care for her either. Last night I mentioned she'd been fired to a co-worker. My co-worker: "I was talking about her earlier to someone, 'what's up with her, she's hardly ever on." She said she did kind of like the show, but: "She kept repeating herself."

When I mention the "mm hmms" my co-worker said, "Yeah I didn't like her for that..." But she still kind of enjoyed the show. I toldf her, "this is why I have satellite radio...more options instead of just WBZ overnight, Coast to Coast etc."

Don't have satellite radio yet....I have frequently interrupted sleep and so I prefer light faire for night time radio....if Morgan or someone very similar is not picked as a replacement I would like to try satellite radio. Bradley J. and Dean Johnson are kind of like watching paint dry. I do not enjoy coast to coast much either, although it is sometimes interesting. Is there a good variety of night time talk on satellite?

For all we know it could be something behind the scenes. SOmething that has very little to do with her on-air work. COuld it have been a dispute over time off? A dispute over other outside work she can do? Was she not giving the PD the attention she could/should have? Could it be illness? A zillion things beyond the speculation that will erupt here.

Prior to her being hired to full time overnights, I loved it when it was a mix of Jen, Morgan and Bradley on all week. It was just enough of each of the personalities to satisfy.
Well, I'm sorry to see her go, it was a nice change having a female, same age as myself, on the air, although I didn't agree with everything she said, she was interesting to listen to.

Also there's Tune In or Live 365 via your smart phone or computer (also something called Screamer Radio with diff types of stuff). Tune In
also has everything from HD channels (WROR HD2 "Nothing But the 70s") to police radio.

Tunein radio is the best, and it is free. You can find local talk shows all over the country if that interests you, as well as things like the Phil Hendrie show. I use my iPad to listen to something on Tunein most nights.

Yup, I heard that. He sounded perfectly sincere when he said people could call up and talk about it after 1.
It is pretty obvious that either Peter or someone else in management was listening and called the studio, advising that, “no, that ain’t gonna happen!”.
Which, as I was surprised he (Morgan) made that offer to begin with, is just what I thought was going to happen——ragging either on a just let-go bad host or the station that canned a good host is just a no-no, if just for legal/liability purposes.
