Jen is done

You know, Ernie Boch Jr., just doesn't get enough media exposure, that's why it makes so much sense to have him as a "guest" on 'BZ overnight.

Bradley's show was entertaining last night. I liked hearing Ernie Boch Jr, he's an interesting guy. The guy on beforehand, the one in the 10-12 slot, horrible. I dozed off and on and work up at 12:30 just in time for Bradley.

The week Jen took off or was let go, I didn't get to hear any of it. I was in the hospital, first ICU then once I got in a regular room I downloaded the CBS app to hear WBZ radio and it was Morgan, so I missed everything. The FB pages are all vague as to why she was let go or fired. From what I remember she didn't show up for a couple of shifts, then took a week off. I dunno.

If she doesn't return (I'm not holding my breath) I hope it's Morgan or Bradley or they have both on=that way Bradley will have enough time to take his train trips. I like them both.

Someone on the group asked why she was fired; I mentioned the attendance situation, or lack of. They are trying to get people to contact sponsors etc; heck maybe they'll let her back on and we'll have even more mmm hmm no-shows by Jen. Uh huh. Mmm hmm.
I even suggested they contact WRKO, maybe they'd take her back.

When that phone don't ring...

Where did my post go? Ugh....;

Anyway, Bradley's show was entertaining as usual. It was a surprise hearing Ernie Boch Jr. Interesting.
The guy on the 10-12 slot was horrible, I dozed off and on for that and woke up at 12:30 just in time for Bradley.

The week all this went down with Jen, I didn't hear any of it. I was in the hospital, first in the ICU then once I got in a regular room I downloaded the CBS app to listen to "BZ and it was all Morgan. I do know she didn't show up for a couple of shifts. They're vague on the FB pages as to exactly why she was let go.

Personally it would be great if they split the shifts between Morgan and Bradley, I enjoy them both. That way Morgan would have time to do his trivia gig and Bradley would have time for his train trips.

Your orig. post showed for me. Maybe there was a cache problem. And she missed quite a few shows with no or short notice leading to the likes of 7 hr shifts for others. Also word has it that while some like her many objected to her personal stuff on the show. Some liked. Many didn't but the attendance etc was key.

How about someone who's done the gig before ... well, one night a week, anyway, nearly 40 years ago -- Robin Young? Excellent interviewer, about as well known in the market as anyone you can name, and can apply a light touch to the proceedings with ease. Of course, the current national gig via WBUR probably is more appealing, especially for full-time work, but hey, as one of those night owls who used to listen to her 'BZ show in the '70s, I thought I'd toss the name out there.

In that order?
Feinburg would be a good replacement for Kuhner once they get sick of his act.

LMAO, Kuhner was doing one hour - from 11 - noon and his ratings were so good he REPLACED feinberg and whiner mcphee. RKO's biggest mistake was pairing whiner mcphee with feinberg at 5:30 in the morning - she replaced the felon. Feinberg would have been better off by himself. mcwhiner ruined it for feinberg and the morning drive show and right now Kuhner's ratings are sky high.

Comments from the "bring back jen brien" page, lmao.

Jen needs a three or four hour show and should be in prime time. She has great topics and her honesty is refreshing. She can have a civil discussion with people she disagrees with.

Oh my goodness I assumed you we're on vac. I didn't know, I missed you, and will help in any way I can. You're show was and will be again the best.

I hope this all makes a difference...Just tell us what else to do and we will do it....We all love Jen and don't want to see her leave .

Jen, if God wants you at WBZ it will happen.

Im really having a hard time with this decision that WBZ has made FOR me in " my best interest" who do they think they are? When Jen was on as a fill in it is a fact that I messaged Peter Casey time and again to have Jennifer on as a 5 day replacement after Steve had left. Jennifer was and is a person with a great personality. She is a veteran, she is down to earth, open and honest and is not afraid to tell it like she sees it or share a personal story with the listeners. I think people gravitate toward this, she is the kind of person you would like to have as a friend. Nevermind the fact that she keeps herself in shape and is absolutely beautiful. I will continue to call CBS radio and speak my peace. please everyone do the same. I miss her and I don't think Im alone.

Jen Strong

I hope they hire Jen back ASAP...We need the FUN back where it belongs!!!

Someone was not in their right mind when they made this stupid decision; Wake Up! And Bring Back Jen!!! She is the best thing that ever happened to WBZ talk Radio

Bring Back Jen Brien
Yesterday

It has come to our attention that WBZ has a table at the Topsfield Fair. If you are attending today or feel inclined, it would be a great opportunity to have a pleasant conversation with the BZ rep, to make your voice heard and ask for change. xxxx xxxxx posted yesterday that she spent some time with them and BZ said that many people had also stopped by and expressed the same concern.

Every bit helps!!!

More comments

I called- emailed and now will send snail mail. I am not giving up. I doo not understand why they would cancel such a successful show. She always had calls coming in (not like the lines were dead). She brought so much enthusiasm to the show and so many of us love her. There are also a lot of listeners who can't sleep or like myself work at night and she gets us through the night. She has been what BZ needed for years, and they are either too stubborn or stupid to realize it. Lets get our Jen back to the overnight.

Loved Jen's show! Morgan's games drive me up the wall. I am not listening to BZ now that he's on. I think this happened with Steve years ago and there was a listener protest and he was back! Let's do this!

>>>I didn't read all the comments but the one below is the only "negative" one I stumbled on.....<<<<

I hate being a wet blanket. I liked Jen on wxtk with Ed Lambert but she didn't show up to work. I don't know why, and it's not my business. It didn't seem like the hours and the commute helped matters. Anyway I wish her luck but it's time for BZ to move on.

So she always had calls coming in? Well she was OFF so often that other hosts fielded those calls. Jen theme song: The Zombies, "She's Not There".

You missed this one, a comment on WBZ doing a remote from the Topsfield Fair over the weekend:

It is appropriate to put their table close to the sheep barn .Maybe after the show is over today Mr. Peter Casey can go nearby and find a date for tonight.

moonchild,

That is some funny stuff, no doubt. Can anyone post a FB link? I'm never successful in finding her actual page. Every host is going to have some sort of following, that's for sure. I'm amazed that all these Facebook commenters don't seem to have a problem with manure filled socks, urine, feces, etc. Maybe they weren't listening those nights.

I'd like to start a discussion, since there appear to be a lot of good radio minds here. Should an overnight talk show be political of either bent and/or high-strung? I've always thought the show should mimic the world during those hours...quiet, more laid back, breezy-light and fun for the lots of elderly people trying to get to sleep, lots of overnight workers who want someone on to more or less accompany them...it's a mellow time for most people...but others may disagree. Your thoughts?

I like it to be like any other show--animated discussions, interesting guests, various topics. The only difference is that I would like it to not be somber and depressing. It's the middle of the night--so make it a little bit upbeat and fun when you can. Not mind dulling dumb and laid back but normal conversation without dwelling on the really depressing stuff. No one wants to hear that when they're alone at night.

Tonight it's Bradley Jay again and he actually used the word "fun"! Yes, it should have some element of fun, make people smile a little. Not as serious as an earlier show like Dan Rea's but not mindless banter either. I like how Bradley is now outlining his topics and putting them on the BZ site. He used to just wing it and try to make one topic last all night long--booooooring. Now he seems to be doing his homework and it's paying off in a much more interesting show. He seems to be finding the right balance and I think he could become the One for Overnight. Or--have him on for most nights and alternate with someone else who is good like Jordan Rich if 5 nights is too much for Bradley to plow though. He's done well on Sunday and Monday so far and he is going to be on all this week. Don't want him to get burned out though.
