Jerry Atchley dead of cancer at 68

Jerry Atchley was associated with Little Rock’s successful country KSSN (95.7) as one of its early owners, and he also worked for Dallas jingle/production music houses TM and Firstcom. TRI hears that he’s lost a battle with cancer and died at 68. That was Tuesday, in Little Rock.

Jerry was a year behind me at Stuttgart High. Always a joy to be around, and later built one of the best stations Arkansas has ever had.

RIP, Jerome Hodges Atchley.

I worked for him when he owned KSSN and KIX 106 in Little Rock. He also owned KZSN in Witchita.
Jerry was a great guy, always positive and fun to be around.
He had thousands of friends and he certainly be missed.

Memorial at Pulaski United Methodist Church in Little Rock, this Thursday at 2pm.

I had the privilege of knowing Jerry from his days of selling me jingles during the 70's right on through his hiring of me as the originating MM for his new FM purchase in Memphis. Together we created and birthed what would become a force in Memphis radio, WGKX KIX 106. As a "boss" he was supportive, and always encouraging. I remember him fondly and offer my deepest sympathy to Stephanie and the entire family. I'm sure he will brighten up heaven just as he did life on earth for so many of us who shared our lives with him.....Craig Scott

Jerry was the most positive person I ever met. I had the pleasure of working for him at KSSN and KMVK in Little Rock. I can almost see him strolling the streets of gold and greeting people with "Hiya Kiddo". He will be missed.

a total class act in every sense of the world --- the epitome of a Southern Gentleman --- he was a great one! David Gariano
