Jerry Blavat On IQ 106.9

Jerry Blavat was scheduled to sit in in the merry-go-round midday slot on WWIQ on Thu. 6/7 - I didn't get a chance to listen online to confirm.

The RAMP newsletter had a note about this and mentioned that station VP of News and Programming Al Gardner says that a permanent host will be in place on Monday, June 11. But who could it be... ???

Michelle is on the air right now talking about DATING websites come on are you kidding me ?

Better than the other day when she was talking about STI's and STD's. Still more informative than Beck or Hannity.

They've been airing promos teasing Rush's addition to the station sometime soon, and they hinted on their Facebook page about the addition of Mark Levin as well. Mega bummer for them to be so heavily syndicated, but I guess that's the radio world we live in. I'd imagine they'd have to go with a female local host if they want to salvage any potential for female listeners, and I'm guessing Jersen is in the running. I'm still pulling for Dawn Stensland to get an open shift (then again, I'm still pulling for Matt & Huggy nights).

I'm hoping once Rush starts, they'll start cycling hosts in the evening. I can't listen during the day as I'm at work, and I'd like to sample. It blows my mind they're still running Hannity so much. I'm looking forward to the Stop Obama Express careening into the Schuylkill sometime in the near future (ratings-wise)

And the word is that the owners/operators are fiddling around with Mancow at the Chicago station (whatever their letters are now).

Is it just me, or does this major-market triad reek of the plot to 'The Producers' ?

One major exception, though. The movie was MEANT to be a comedy. It was DESIGNED as a stunt, to clear the theatre. Merlin's performances in three huge markets have been tragedies. In a few months it will have been one full year in NYC and Chicago.

Gimme my internet radio soon, Dad. I'll try to be near the front of the line when the mall here opens and the vulgaris versions get shoveled over to eager customers like White Castle burgers.

Yeah felt bad for her too. Sounded like she had never done radio before. She forgot to say who she was one day when the show opened. So if Rush is being announced Monday, when does PHT announce the new afternoon drive person? Smerco goes to noon so they have to fill his 3-7 time. Any guesses? Maybe they will move Dom Giordano up?

Are you joking? How is a line up of the best names in radio a 'mega bummer'? You'd prefer lesser talent just because it's 'local'? All I want out of a station is a good morning show, followed by Beck, Rush, Sean and Levin. That has been sorely missing in Philly. Even when the Big Talker used to be good, they still didn't have Mark Levin live at 6. This great news.

Agreed 100%. Quality trumps the location of the mic every time. I wonder if these 'localphiles' ever listen to the shows they tout.

The performance bar has been raised by good syndicated fare and there aren't many Philly topics that matter to the surrounding suburbs these days. National political talk appeals to listeners throughout. In the case of conservative talk, there's a big enough suburban audience to offset lower numbers in Philly. And liberal talk doesn't seem to resonate, probably because those inclined can hear it from multiple media sources 24/7, and some liberal hosts strike a bitter chord, which makes it more difficult to be entertaining.

Nailed it. People don't really want to spend hours talking about the Philly schools closing early today. Maybe ten minutes but then they want to move on. Conservative talk works. There's a reason Beck just renewed his deal for $20million. Is Smerconish making that kind of money?
