Jerry Doyle to take Savage's old time slot

According to a release TRN sent out to affiliates today, Doyle will take over the 12p-3p ET (3p-6p PT) time slot beginning today.

I think this is a great move on TRN's part for a couple of reasons:

First, Jerry Doyle does a great show. The local Cox station in my area carried it a few years ago (3-hrs. delayed) and I really enjoyed it. Doyle, like Savage, has a quick wit, lots of energy and hard edge but, unlike Savage, he always seems to know where "the line" is. His show should appeal to Savage's audience and, if it does, it will really appeal to advertisers.

Second, I applaud NRN for making such a swift decision! Usually it takes a preliminary study to determine whether to do a study, then a series of focus groups, followed by a debriefing to study the accumulated data, followed by several weeks or months of deliberation about how to implement a plan based on the decision. TRN's "Effective Today" is almost unheard of in today's Corporate environment! Kudos to the powers that be for having the balls to see an opportunity and act on it immediately!

kksf takes TRN syndication of Watenburg on Sunday, Will anyone remember Savage in 6 months? Maybe he will try to do a Glen Beck? I wonder who will syndicate Savage? Of course his son and wife own Rockstar energy bev...Savage might have a piece of it too, he is a multi millionaire so I'm sure he will land on his feet,

Since lots of advertisers do not like savage I wonder how will pick him up?

Not sure how successful he'll be but supp. he may try for another slot, like up against Rush. Many have tried and failed in that slot.

See Talkers.com today. Wattenberg for now gets 3-6 ET/Noon-3 PT slot that had been Doyle's
till. perm replacement named. TRN saying Doyle is more light less heat and says he will attract
listeners and ad dollars...So the "6'4" ATM of Information" gets early evenings in East and pm
drive out west.
