Jerry Foster, pioneering helicopter pilot dies at 82.

Very, very, very sad news for us in ARIZONA. Having grown up in a television market without
a helicopter, Jerry was a novelty initially. It quickly became apparent he was WAY more than
that. He was articulate yet down to earth, professional, informative and entertaining at the same
time. His many life saving rescues and vantage point in the sky made him worth changing channels!
Yes, he made mistakes in his life as do we all but in the end, he was a great guy and this news
of his passing stings and hurts deeply......

In the grand scheme of things he did many times more good than any "bad" he did by using drugs for personal use

And as for hanging out with bikers.... that just shows he had great taste in friends!

Pilot, biker, truck driver.... sounds like my type of guy ( but I'll pass on the mind altering substances... personal choice)

Helicopter Pilots are a strange bunch.... they live on the edge every time they engage the rotors.... planes are very forgiving, helicopters are not forgiving at all.

CAVU Jerry, you are cleared thru the airspace

I spent a summer in Arizona in the 80s and Jerry was a rock star at Channel 12. He was the copter pilot, did traffic and weather.

On weather, he worked alongside another AZ legend, Dewey Hopper.

On weather, he worked alongside another AZ legend, Dewey Hopper.
And there were people who think that Dewey-Humboldt is named after him.
