Jerry Springer's infamous "I Married a Horse" episode..

Back in the late 90's Jerry Springer had done a show about people who had sexual relationships with animals. One guest was a man who was involved with a, well horse. One scene as I can recall ( remembering the promo which made me gag ) showed the man kissing his horse on the mouth. Of course it was a sick episode however my question is this..was this show seen on any TV station that had carried Springer at the time?

Over the years I heard both yes and no. I do know that Baltimore's WBAL had refused to air this ( even though WBAL did air the promos for this..go figure ! ! ) while at the same time I have heard that the episode DID air in the Harrisburg-Lancaster, PA market but I had thought that the entire episode was scraped for OTA viewing in every market even though I had heard that this episode did make the home video market for a time. With that being said there are those who swear to this day that they had seen this on their local Springer affiliate. Wonder if this is like the Chubbuck death..people who swear they had seen it..but in reality they didn't.

I hadn't seen the episode. If this during the time WMAQ Chicago carried Jerry Springer, then probably not. If it was during the time WFLD Chicago carried Jerry, then maybe. Regardless, there are those who have fetishes for doing animals, and I personally find it sickening. It's like online that there's a video of a guy who takes a horse wiener up his bum (being clean about the language here). That guy eventually died from it.

Are you sure they were local spots, as opposed to the "on the next Jerry Springer" promos during the show?

What I can recall is that I was watching WBAL's news at 11 that night only to see the Springer promo of the man kissing his horse. Earlier that night I was at work and had read on the AP wire about the number of stations who had refused to air the episode and one of those stations listed was...WBAL.

...thing is, this Springer gag (use however many definitions of the word you care to) was directly ripped off from an old Lenny Bruce record that had just been reissued at that time on Rhino Records' The Beat Generation 3-CD set. The name of the cut, which spoofed the poetry-and-jazz fad of the late '50s, was "Psychopathia Sexualis" (the second line of the poem was "I'm in love with a horse from Dallas")...

Dave..I doubt you or I would find anyone who would disagree..such stuff is SICK. Today I watched this episode in question and even Jerry Springer himself had said it was sick. OTOH..those who think otherwise will NEVER admit to such crap at all. Sort of like "cigar sex". I admit..every once in awhile I do smoke a cigar but not very often. Even though the other day I was out washing my car, smoking a cigar only to be approached by some person who asked me to join his cigar group online. His group was about those who were turned on sexually by cigars ( NO I don't get that one either ). Anyway being the curious person as I am I went to his site and imagine my surpirse that I had found no-less than FIVE very well known local Denver TV news anchors who are members of this "group".

Either way I declined to join them.

Thank you for THAT mental image! ::)
