Jerry's Kids

As for 8, as soon as the contracts for Jerry's kids expire, they'll be out the door. A lot of behind-the-scenes people have booked.
I don't understand what this means.

What I think RockTV is saying is that once the current batch of reporters' contracts expire they won't be renewed by the management at Channel 8.
There is a two-sided coin to this topic. On one hand, judging from 8's record of how they treat employees, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if some people were let go. On the other hand replacing these people will only lead to more confusion. Even though there are a few reporters at 8 that need more experience, at least they've had time to adjust to the Rochester market. Nothing will be served by getting rid of those individuals and replacing them with people from out-of-town who have to play "catch-up" when it comes to events going on in Rochester.
From my perspective it seems to me that WROC is purposely trying to destroy that TV news operation. If it wasn't for CBS's strong line up of programs, I hardly think anyone would watch 8.

I meant they are young and that's what people at 8 call them - Jerry's kids. Who knows if they'll be renewed.

I'm guessing that they'll mostly be renewed as long as they aren't looking for pay or benefits increases.
