Why does Philadelphia TV give the South Jersey Shore more news coverage? NYC does not give the jersey Shore good news coverage as well as Philadelphia. Why such a difference?

In New Jersey is not the same as at The Shore. The Atlantic City-Cape May MSA (Radio) market accounts for about five percent of the total population of the Philadelphia DMA (TV) market. Philly TV tends to do what it has always done because it has always done it. One of those things is talking about the Shore like that's where everybody goes (or should go). Not everybody does.

The North Jersey Shore is not as much a weekend/vacation factor in the Tri-State as the South Jersey Shore is for the Delaware Valley. New York TV focuses more on the Long Island South Shore.

You are right about that.

There was an article in the Philadelphia Inquirer last year [or the year before] promoting Seaside Heights, in central Ocean County, and within North Jersey Shore claim. Yet, the Philadelphia Inquirer provided driving directions - to take A.C. Expressway, so you end in Atlantic County, and then back up north on Garden State Parkway, to Ocean County. Making it a real hike to get there. For most subscribers in Camden and Burlington County, that is a lot more distance into Ocean County. Driving east on Rt.70 is a 1 hour drive - the same distance it takes to go to one of the Atlantic County beaches. But, the Philly TV stations/newspapers don't want to place much focus on the Ocean County beaches, even though they are comparable in distance to the Atlantic County beaches, from center city and Camden/Burlington counties.

I think they talk too much about the Shore in the summer. While that promotes the beaches, it indirectly hurts what Philadelphia has to offer, as an attraction.
