Jess Cain Will Have to Wait 'Till Next Year

The late Jean Shepard beat out our own Jess Cain for first time entry into the Radio Hall of Fame.

Read that Jess was pleased that Shepard who he thought was a genius at what he did was elected.

Still, we who grew up - or better yet - awoke to Jess Cain every morning for more than 20 years hoped this honor would go to Jess.

Guess, we just have to try harder next year but it should also give momentum to founding Boston's own Radio Museum and Radio Hall of Fame.

Perhaps, we could build it at "Grossman's Gulch...."

Well, congrats to Jean ("Excelsior, You Fathead!")...btw sorry to nitpick
but his last name is spelled Shepherd. <a href="http://www.cmt.com/artists/az/shepard_jean/artist.jhtml"> "Jean Shepard" </a> is a country
singer who was married to Hawkshaw Hawkins (was killed in the Patsy
Cline plane crash). I remember doing a web search for "Shep" and was wondering why I kept getting references to country music! (had heard of the country
singer before, too). Try http://www.flicklives.com for the non-country
one.

"Carl Yastremski! Carl Yastremski! The man that they call Yaz" can be heard
in "Fever Pitch".

Don't forget : LARRY GLICK on WBZ tomorrow night (Wed 8/10 into Thu)
midnite to 2 am on...the station that fired you know who.

If a Hall Of Fame is ever established for local (Boston or New England) broadcasting, you can bet that Jess Cain will be a charter honoree.
